They escaped from Snaktooth. But not without casualties. Chandlo is gone, and with him, Snorpy might as well be. Beffica and Cromdo both lost themselves, in very different ways. And Filbo and Buddy are trying desperately to keep the group together when all Wambus and Triffany want is to get away.
Unfortunately, the over-active imaginations of the inexperienced group were a little too vivid, and they can’t leave everything they saw behind. Nor does it want to let them. The storm is not over yet, and they’re still trying to pick up the pieces of themselves in the carnage the first blow left behind.

(OR: the one where, after most of humanity turns into a series of terrifying monsters, Mumbo decides he’s going to risk his life on an apocalypse road trip to try to find out if Grian is alive. Things, as you might imagine, devolve from there.)
