    Summary

Aizawa (not sensei yet, but well-versed in the aftereffects of winning the UA Sports Festival as a teenager and as someone with a highly desirable mental Quirk) had been a great help with this fact immediately, coaching him on how to vary his paths of getting home, how to double back and confuse a pursuer, how to recognize he was being followed, and Hitoshi had soaked it all in like a sponge. And it had been good for a while, had even been fun for a while employing all of Aizawa’s tips and tricks especially when the man became his sensei.

His only complaint was that it added so much time to get home.

But then...Hitoshi started slacking off a bit. Just one less double-back, one less decoy route, one less false turn, one less look around him for pursuers. And eventually all those one lesses added up and suddenly Hitoshi was back to walking directly to and from UA.

He got complacent. And that was the beginning of his current predicament.

    Summary

There is a green-haired boy with a blindfold. He’s got a pistol in his hand.
(He’s got a pistol to his head).

Six chambers. One bullet. No will to live, no reason to stay.

There’s a crowd watching the stage he stands on. He hears them, the whisper of fabric, the low murmur and brushing of hands. Money exchanging hands. His hand doesn’t waver.

Why don’t we raise the stakes?

Otherwise known as: Izuku plays Russian Roulette as a form of highly illegal entertainment for an anonymous crowd gambling on his life. He doesn’t have much to lose.

    Summary

About a week after that, All Might asked Izuku if he was aiming for the hero course at UA. The question was so sudden that Izuku nearly dropped a microwave on his toes.

The truth was, if All Might had asked him that a week ago, there would have only been one possible answer to that question. All Might had gone to UA, UA was the best, so Izuku was going to go there too, if he could. But things were a little different, now that he was going to receive All Might’s Quirk.

    “No,” he said, decisively.

All Might looked caught off guard, which was a very rare expression on him. “No?” he echoed, like he couldn’t believe it.

A laugh bubbled out of Izuku’s throat. He honestly couldn’t believe it either. “No,” he repeated.

    ___

Or, All Might tells Izuku about All for One before he gives him One for All, and everything changes.

AM tells Izu about AFO before giving OFA. Izu decides to go to shiketsu instead, to have more time to acclimate to OFA, and to keep attention off himself while AM teaches at UA. AFO and Shiggy are left hunting for Nine. These things also incline him towards underground heroics.

He learns parkour, trains flexibility (including dance), accidentally becomes a thigh-jutsu master, learns aerial silks, befriends Inasa and Camie, leans into his looks with his hero persona by flirting.

Shaggy attacks USJ. No additional casualties.

Shoto is 2nd in Sports Fest, wakeup call to learn his fire. Endy is surprisingly mellow internship mentor for this.

Stain paralyzes Shoto and injures both Native and Iida in ways that would be fatal without immediate assistance (another person to help stem bleeding mostly), and forces Shoto to choose which to save when the quirks wear off. Shoto saves Iida and Native refuses help to make sure he doesn't try to split his focus and lose both of them. Shoto watches him die. Later, Stain almost kills Endeavor, but gets distracted monolouging and is taken by surprise. Iida loses his voice (mostly).

Izu and Inasa both join 2nd yrs training camp in prep for PL Exam.

Muscular kills Kota. Kats kidnapped from UA camp. Kri, Iida, Momo and Shoto go to Kamino and fetch Kats (as canon) AM wins vs AFO but is now paraplegic. Shiggy spills about AFO quirk, and both he and AFO mention AM successor, Kats overhears and pieces together someone gave Izu a quirk (AFO or AM). Izu blames himself for this all. Nedzu convinces Izu to transfer to UA for 2nd year.

Izu catches on to an imposter(Toga) replacing Camie (danger sense and behavior change), texts Tsuki to investigate. Izu flirts with Shoto at PL Exam(cause he wont stop staring), half of class 1-A is thirsty. Shoto tracks down Izu in Exam, they face off, then ally against another school. Kats corners Izu and alleges quirk from AFO, they fight, Izu breaks Kats nose. Inasa is salty about Izu with Shoto (and insecure about Izu being secretive). Izu and Shoto team up against Gang Orca. Shoto passes. Izu finally picks his hero name, inspired by Yagi and his 'catchphrase' Hope is always on the Horizon. Manages to catch Eraser before UA leaves, and convinces him to take Izu on as Intern. Eraser half notices Float which has been sorta half activating when Izu jumps (longer hang-time).

Shoto stands out to Mirio(picked up some strategy from Izu). SNE takes him on as Intern. Partly postivie, partly as red herring for Nine, which Izu figures out and calls him out on at the meeting after Eri bumps into Sho. Izu reads in Eraser in OFA/AFO. Gets ears peirced as cover for following SH recruiter into tattoo shop for more info gathering with Eraser. Warns UA kids to "learn how to dodge" SH raid goes more smoothly(ish), no one dies(permanently, Izu gets half overhauled). Mirio loses quirk. Eri is saved. Blackwhip manifests.

UA school Fest as usual, No Gentle. Izu performs Silks with Camie for Shiketsu school Fest, Shoto thinks she's his GF (they sort it out and confess eventually, but decide not to pursue anything yet because danger/distance), Shoto learns of pending school transfer.

Izu participates in 1-A/B brawl. Analyzes matches 1-4 with Nedzu, is surprise 4th member for 1-A team 5.

    Summary

"I’m only two minutes late!” Izuku protested. Had he missed the start of an important test? None of the national, standardized tests were supposed to happen this month and even being two minutes late to one of those wouldn’t elicit this sort of reaction. They were discussing their career interest forms today, but that was it. Nothing time-critical was supposed to be happening.

“Midoriya, you were reported missing a week ago. No one has seen you for eight days. The police have been combing the city for you.”

    "I’m sorry. What?”

Midoriya Izuku went missing for a week and turned up in a back alleyway with skills he's never even heard of and no memory of how he came by them. He resigns himself to never learning the truth of what happened to him, but he shouldn't waste this chance should he? He could become a hero with reflexes like these.

I've read it 4 times, and it's better every time.

    💕💚💕💚💕
Can't believe I forgot to Rec this ages ago 😩

    1st Read:

    I just..... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.!
To start, I have been bingeing through this work for the last 3(?) days and even though everything is still fairly fresh, it really does feel like that fateful monday was years and lifetimes away. This whole thing has just been such an incredible rollercoaster.
I'm still amazed by all of the incredible world building and fleshing of characters you've done that spans though your works. I'm consistantly blown away by all of the knowledge worked in that I'm minorly convinced that some of the most technical points are within your actual area of expertise or countless hours have been spent on research. Or maybe it's been incredibly convincing bullshitting all along! Either way, it brings a feeling of certainty and solid foundations to the story, characters and settings. In places where things might have been left deliberately (justifiably) vague, it gave extra life and gravity to the situations as needed.
I have said before and will say again, that I am absolutely looking forward to reading more of your works in the future. (And also the mentioned epilogue)💕
It's been probably a full week of reading your works and the change in quality and style is probably going to give me some trouble reading other authors for a little while I think. 😅
Thankyou for sharing your stories with us 🥰

    2nd Read:
This story has been living rent free in my head for close to 2 years now, and I can't believe it's been over a year since this finished. 😩
I destroyed my sleep schedule for this week because I couldn't keep myself from rereading the whole thing once I caught up on my AO3 emails and saw there's new Switch Perspectives. 🙃
Anywho... I mostly just wanted to say that your writing is just as captivating the second time through, and I really found so many more wonderful bits that settled properly in my mind this time that I sort of didn't realize my brain had muddled. It's so easy to get sucked into the suspense of a story the first time through and miss the things (good or bad) that really make a story excellent or a one-time only read.
Being able to slow down and enjoy it again has been really lovely, so thank you again for sharing such an incredible journey and story with all of us 🥰

    4th(?) Read:
"I will miss them. I am not entirely sure what I will do with myself now."

I feel this way every time I finish reading this fic. It's honestly such an ingrained part of me, like every excellent formative fiction someone reads in their life (on par with the way LOTR, HP, PJO, Etc. have impacted me long term).

    Summary

Izuku is a vigilante, and frankly it's the only good thing in his life. Or at the very least, it's brought about all of the good things. He loves nothing more than patrolling under the stars with Eraserhead at his side and Tsukauchi a phone call away.

So even though his civilian life might finally be amounting to something, now that he's getting into UA with a chance of becoming an actually-Licensed hero, he can't give his vigilantism up.

Equally, Aizawa isn't giving up on his Kidilante. The kid's been his for three years already, there's no way that those half-completed adoption papers in his desk drawer are going to go to waste. If only he had time to breathe beyond keeping his Kidilante safe, alongside his new class who are apparently villain magnets. It's going to be a long year.

(Written to fulfil every part of my pathetic little soul that just had to write ''angsty! but kind! little shit! Izuku who's an insomniac Quirkless vigilante that Aizawa is 100% going to adopt if only he could figure out his real identity but he refuses to force it out of him now because it took him years to earn that trust dammit and he'll wait longer if that's what it takes'' idea, but mine.)
