    Summary

His hands do not tremble when he pours out the salt. It's to be expected of course, because Grian has been doing it for ages by now, but in the quiet of the room, it feels significant.

"Scar." He does his best to keep his voice as steady as his hands, but it cracks near the end - a slight drawn-out r that nearly makes him frown. He's over this. He has to be, because there is only so much hurt his heart can take before it breaks into two identical parts. (One into his chest, and the other-)

    No answer.

"Scar, I need you." A beat of silence. "Please."

The air fills with sulfur, and the smell Grian has come to associate with Scar, old wood thrown into the fire, ashes, and sugar makes his head spin. He doesn't have to open his eyes to know his wish has been granted.

"Well, hello there." His voice is the same as ever, warm and syrupy, honey trap for the unaware. His words are teasing, his tone familiar, and for an instant, a single second that makes his breath hitch, Grian can imagine it's his Scar standing in front of him.

He opens his eyes and stares coldly at the demon trapped in the circle of salt.

"Here we are," Mumbo says, confirming Grian's suspicions (and the GPS map) that this is their destination. "Home sweet home."

"Swanky," Grian says. "How'd you land it?"

"Nice job," Mumbo says. "Pays really well."

    "No kidding."

Grian moves in with Mumbo after months of Mumbo asking, but things are... weird.

This is, hands down, my all-time favorite modern (hermitcraft? Life series?) AU EVER. NOTHING can beat it,,, the writing is amazing, the interactions thought out, and the storyline itself is exciting and interesting!! The ending is SOOOOO satisfying and there was rarely a point where i could've guessed what wouldve happened next. SO MANY FEELINGS!! AND!! THE! GREEN THING!!!! 100000000/10, HIGHLY reccommened reading!!

    Summary

It had almost been a year since he last woke up from his most recent hundred-year-nap, and yet, nothing really interesting has gone on. It was nice, of course, to see the progress of the little kingdom throughout the years. Each time he woke up, it was always a pleasant surprise to find that the scenery had changed yet again. But other than that, really nothing much.

He supposed it was kinda his fault for not expanding his horizons, so to speak. He hadn’t left this mountain for quite a while. All he really does nowadays is sleep, wake up, stare blankly ahead, sleep again, repeat.

It was definitely quite the change from his earlier days, when he used to never be able to sit in one place for too long, always on his feet to see something new, do something fun. Together with his most precious person, his…

Grian rams his head into a particularly big tree in frustration, making the poor tree snap in half with a big thud as it crashes down the ground.

God, he needs to get a grip.

    OR

Grian finds a human child one day after being depressed for centuries wallowing over his ex. The future is bright and full of fireworks (spoilers: they WILL eventually get back together again).
