    When Kaede ventures to the Bone Eater's well to dispose of the corpse of a minor yōkai, she's surprised to find a young, strangely dressed girl injured and unconscious within its depths. The timing of the girl's appearance coinciding with the mysterious disappearance of a hanyō that had been sealed to the Goshinboku sets the villagers on edge. When the girl awakes claiming to remember nothing, the suspicion only grows. She knows her name is Kagome, because that is what the contents of her strange yellow bag have revealed to her. When the tension mounts, Kagome flees from Edo and winds up living in a shack with a mute orphan named Rin. Together, they discover a wounded daiyōkai. Attempting to help him will set the girls on bizarre adventure across Japan.
