Izuku didn't move, didn't breathe. He just stared.
"Everyone has been telling me that I should've done this years ago, but I've just been too much of a pussy to do it. I know our relationship is, well, complicated. That's why I've been scared to tell you."
All Izuku could manage was a weak, "Kacchan?"
"Izuku," Katsuki said, eyes not faltering, "I really hope that this doesn't ruin your birthday, but this is how I feel."
Izuku didn't dare even think of breathing.
“Izuku. I'm in love with—"
The cotton candy booth next to them exploded.

Izuku opened the door, ready to give whoever was furiously knocking stern talking to. His eyes went wide. “Whacchan?!”
“Izuku!” Katsuki said, looking more disheveled than Izuku had ever seen him, “I fucked up!”
“What? Kacchan, what—”
His next words were cut off by the loud wailing of a baby.
The two of them froze.
Izuku slowly looked into the hallway and saw a chubby, very angry looking baby in a bright pink stroller.
“Oh,” Izuku said.
The baby screamed in response.

Summary
Katsuki brought it up to his lips. It was just a cigarette, he’s seen people smoke them all the time.
He inhaled, and immediately started to choke, dropping the cigarette as he coughed and sputtered around the smoke coming from his mouth.
“Congratulations!” Kariage said happily over Katsuki’s wheezes, “You just smoked your first cigarette! I’m so proud.”
“The fuck was that?” Katsuki rasped once he could breathe again.
Kariage snorted. “What did you expect? Did you think you could just become a chain smoker right off the bat? You’re breathing in something that’s gonna kill you in thirty years.”
Katsuki scowled. “Fuck off.”
Kariage lit his own cigarette with a small lighter. He took a long drag and blew it in Katsuki’s face.
“Don’t worry,” he said as Katsuki batted the cloud away, “We’ll get you addicted in no time.”

Katsuki took the poster from the boy, then paused.
“It’s custom-made,” the boy explained when Katsuki didn't say anything.
“I can see that,” Katsuki said, staring at the glossy poster of nothing but his bare chest in a tattered hero costume.
“Can you sign here?” the boy asked, pointing at Katsuki’s exposed left pectoral in the poster.
He couldn’t help but look at the boy incredulously.
“It’s my favorite photo of you, Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight!” the boy said with no shame, and Katsuki sighed heavily.
He did his job as a public servant and signed the poster.

"Little longer, then we can sit," Katsuki murmured, and Izuku looked up at him.
His eyes were sleepy, cheeks and nose red from the cold, and the urge to kiss him was unbearable.
However, Katsuki wasn't much of an exhibitionist, so he brushed their noses together before resting his cheek against Izuku's with a sigh.
Judging by the looks they got, kissing would've been the better choice.

Summary
The Eridian thrills a high sound that doesn’t get picked up by the translator which means that it has no clear meaning. Like when a human gasps or sucks in a deep breath. It actually sounds a little like that. When they notice that I’m staring straight at them they scramble back into their hiding spot and hold very still.
A child, I realize with a start.
That’s a child!
“Hey,” I call and the kid squeaks again. I was about to get to my feet but abort the movement and crawl closer on my hands and knees until I'm inches away from the xenonite wall. I wait and it takes me much too long to realize that they don’t have to peek around the corner to see if I’m still there.
“Hey there,” I try again, my voice low and calm. It’s my teacher voice, the one I use for shy and scared students.

The fact that I haven’t had to use it for years and it still comes to me automatically almost knocks the air out of my lungs but this is not about me, it’s about making sure the little pebble doesn’t die of fright from the scary alien. “Hi, I’m Grace. It’s alright, you don’t have to be scared.”
