“Is everything okay with you?” Lucy asks.
Okay? Natsu feels amazing. He loves the smell of Lucy’s hair, and the sound of her laugh, and the way her lips move around words, and he wants to be with her forever. And his whole body’s tingling like it’s on fire, and his entire face feels warm, and his stomach feels like when he’s on a vehicle revving up, and he might throw up soon. So apparently, he also feels awful.
“I don’t know,” he sighs.
According to Natsu, dating is more trouble than it's worth. In any case, figuring out how he feels about Lucy can wait until after they've finished the Quest.
But a recent run-in with not just one, but two alternate versions of himself who are both 1) very opinionated on the subject of romance and 2) very set on figuring out Natsu's own views on the matter might force him to reflect and, possibly, reconsider.Bookmarked by aitnes

Summary
Akane never worried too much about the future. She figured, after high school, life would stay much the same... until her father's sudden passing changes everything. Ranma keeps asking her to talk to him, but there's too much they've never said-- too many feelings buried under old habits, too many jokes masking unspoken desires. After all, how do you ask for what you need when you can't even admit it to yourself?
An emotional(ly constipated) post-manga slow burn in which, through painful misunderstandings and clumsy acts of tenderness, these two idiots finally learn to be honest with themselves and with each other.

everybody fucking pack it up because this is the BEST FUCKING THING i've ever read like i cannot even imagine what it would be like to top this piece of work because this whole thing is just absolutely remarkable. reading this made me insane in the best of ways. this is the pinnacle of romance and honestly reflected so truly what i think the heart of love, the heart of ranma and akane's relationship is about. never have i ever seen a more perfect portrayal of these two, it killed me inside watching them go through all that—ranma's earnestness and loyalty juxtaposed with akane's pain and (rightfully) active defense mechanisms. they were so real and raw and Flawed and that was what made this whole piece so beautiful. the genuinity of their characters and the completely accurate and relatable depictions of grief made their journey so tangible and my heart ached so much throughout. grief really isn't linear and i love how that was such a big part of this, and i especially adored both of their growth over time, over their multiple attempts at being honest and connecting with each other. literally cannot stop raving about this because it made me feel so many emotions and the writing the metaphors and the symbolism the unspoken meaning in their actions and behaviours (which is such a crucial part of their dynamic and relationship—the constant attempts to decipher each other and the things they can't bring themselves to say aloud) were all just fucking Peak. i feel like my third eye was opened. so grateful this exists.

To her surprise, she learns that a lot has changed, and even more hasn’t. Everything we all love about Ranma 1/2, plus a few of the things we always wanted but never got. No subverting expectations here. Ranma 1/2 is a comedy, after all, we all know how this ends.

oh my goodness. finally some good fucking food
update this might genuinely be the best ft fic i've read in maybe years like such high quality in the big 2026 is unheard of 🙏 wisherbystarlight's nalu portrayal is immaculate. fantastic dynamic beautiful tension and absolutely exquisite banter. i also adore how every character mentioned has their own thing going on instead of just being background filler, their characterisations are so on point and can i just say every gruvia bit makes my heart ache. this work is so fun but also so meaningful with so many insights about love and relationships that i really really felt all the way down to my bones. genuinely so inspirational that it makes me want to write again. i have nothing but praise for this! looking forward to more.
