Summary
Ginny slowly stood from her chair across the room and moved over to him, curling into the seat next to him as she rested a hesitant hand on his arm. “But you seemed so…normal, Perce.” He swallowed a bitter remark with a nod of his head, wrapping an arm around her, mindlessly flicking a piece of hair side to side.
“That was rather the point,” he muttered, “for the most part I was, at least for appearances sake. A little more animated, perhaps, but I was always competent.” He spat out the word more harshly than he’d intended.
Look at where competence had got him.

Summary
It was a fairly twisted set of circumstances that found Percy somewhat relieved by the escape of a mass murderer who was with all likelihood going to target his brother's best friend, but then life had a way of providing silver linings in the most awful of places, or so Percy Weasley had found.
But for the first time in almost well over six months, Percy felt content and that was enough for him.
Of course that was never destined to last for poor Percy.

Summary
Alas, much to Molly’s continued disappointment, Percy was very much the same, rather dull person he had been prior to his misguided letter home. Beyond her strict gaze and the bizarre sense of increased…warmth from his siblings that he’d decided was better left unaddressed, his summer had been progressing in a similar fashion to those prior, and Percy had been perfectly content with that.
And then, of all things, his father had gone and won the bloody lottery.

Summary
He had tried to have this conversation before, to force the words out of his throat time and time again, at every dinner for the past 3 months in fact, curbing his appetite to the point that even Bill had pulled him aside to see how he was doing, apparently concerned that Percy’s sudden change in eating habits (when exclusively surrounded by 10 or more members of his family) were some strange manifestation of his guilt from the war. He’d almost had to laugh, had he not been so touched by the fact Bill had even bothered to reach out to him. It was a stark difference from the way things had been five years earlier.
And so, Percy found himself sitting at the table with trembling hands as he forced himself to clear his throat. “I…Mother, would it be alright with you if I brought someone to dinner next week?”

Summary
There was nothing that ought to have compelled Percy towards the mirror, and in hindsight he found himself rather suspicious of magical means seizing control of his senses, but regardless of the cause his feet fell one in front of the other until he was stood, alone and with only the moonlight enabling him to see, as a quivering form in ragged robes before the ornate glass.
It took a moment for the dust to settle for long enough to allow Percy to gentle wipe his glasses clean on the frayed sleeves of his robes and reposition them back on the end of his pointed nose, but as he finally blinked the mirrors reflection into view, a deep abyss opened up within his stomach.
The mirror had to be a cruel joke, Percy decided, breaking his eyes away from it with haste but unable to move himself away from the spot in which he’d frozen. He swallowed once, then twice more, before again looking up at it, despite his better judgement.
Or “What if Percy discovered the Mirror of Erised?”
