He’s not sure he’s ever really seen her before that moment.
Sure, he’s known her since the age of eleven. Hair slicked back, freshly pressed robes, a determination to carry his name like a blessing, instead of the burden that it pragmatically is.
But he’s never seen her like this. As though she’s an agent of chaos, more sharp edges than curls. More woman than girl.
She is a tempest, and a wild thing.
Woman. Witch. Storm.
Draco Malfoy watches Hermione Granger bring the Dark Lord to his knees.

He has been tortured, threatened, coerced. Draco Malfoy has suffered through this war, and has never really achieved anything for either side. He’s a failure as a Death Eater and yet an enemy of The Order.
Hermione explains to the Wizengamot how Draco is a shade of grey, certainly not light, but never truly dark.
Somehow, she manages to make that sound like a good thing.

When she heard the library doors opening, Hermione chanced a glance to see if it was Ronald, however, instead it was Draco Malfoy. Alone. She raised an eyebrow at the sight. Very rarely was Malfoy not with one of his friends. How strange. There was a small part of her that wanted to investigate and see what he was doing in the library. However, the larger part of her knew that that was a terrible idea.
