But no, he opens the door and there he is, Louis de Pointe du Lac. In front of Lestat's gate, listing and red-eyed, poised like a deer about to bolt. It is very strange to see him out of his impeccable three-piece suits, dressed decidedly down in a thick cardigan and a heavy coat, hat set low over his face. The coat is too big for him, Lestat notes. It swamps him, makes him look smaller and slighter than the well-tailored armour of his normal dress. As angry as he remains, Lestat's heart does pang.
Louis saves Paul on the rooftop. He returns to Lestat anyway.

The little thing squirmed around, limp flesh and bones powerless in the face of the greater creature. Was that how you looked now?
