Summary
Bruce Wayne didn't know how to cope with the miscarriage. He would never get to meet his unborn child or get the closure that he and Talia needed. He decides that he needs to move on, so he does.
Alfred wanted him to engage and not fall into the unhealthy pattern as he did with his parent's death, but how could he not? He didn't want to reach out for anything. He was fine.
Then, a boy randomly appears at his doorstep, with confidence that the boy knows he is Batman and everything about Bruce that he feels like this is some crisis.
Eventually, he learns that this wasn't some random boy who appeared on his doorstep; this was much deeper.

Three days, and he had no idea what to do as he clung to the puppy that shivered against him.
The lack of sleep made him a bit more skittish, and he overthought the worst-case scenarios because, of course, he was. Tim was trying to find solutions, but he couldn’t. The internet offered answers, yet there were many that he couldn’t confidently conclude. Taking care of animals was out of his experience, but being able to diffuse a bomb in under three minutes with hostages wasn’t.
Sighing in defeat, he pets her out of reassurance for both of them. She seemed to calm down despite trembling. The only person he could think of to go to for help in this situation was—
