Summary
After Orpheus fails, Eurydice returns.
She falls into the work, letting it consume her mind to stay ahead of the grief and the anger, ripping into rocks instead of her skull, choking on smoke the way she thinks she deserves. It's backbreaking labor and that's exactly what she wants. Gradually, though, she notices Hades begin to lighten his hand—the breaks are more numerous and take longer, the work less relentless (but difficult still). It's a comfort to know that their efforts weren't entirely in vain. Everyone around her is starting to look just a little bit clearer, and now she can recognize a few people. And on one of her breaks, she spots her.
For some unfathomable reason, the girl sticks out to Eurydice. She seems possessed of an odd softness—of a care and grace that underlines the weariness and despair, like the silt between the river rocks.
(Or: If Eurydice's a songbird, Sonya's a dove.)

She kind of knew what she was expecting to deal with on February 2nd—the horror stories from her coworkers at the Channel 5 station had painted a vague but passable picture of a man in her head who she could tell she’d really have to work her producer magic on in order to corral him into doing the broadcast, and doing it right. She expected the handsome but insufferable Phil Connors. The charming but rude Phil Connors. The humorous but condescending Phil Connors.

Summary
AU. Orpheus and Eurydice are apartment neighbors; she moved in first, then him, the floor above her, and she gets into the habit of listening to him play through the ceiling. Their schedules don't line up well enough to cross paths--she doesn't actually see or talk to him until five months later.
Hermes runs the bar across the street and the Fates are street vendors in the same spot; watching Orpheus and Eurydice out on their balconies becomes their entertainment. Hades owns the building with his wife, Persephone.
