Takes place in his early post-PhD days of attending conferences and actually presenting his research for the first time. I imagine he tends to stress himself out WAY too much about these things, tank his own immune system because of it, and then pick up convention crud germs all the time. So that's what I wrote.

Grace nods, but that familiar fear is creeping up on him. The one that visits him when his head hits the pillow, that makes him feel like he's just stalling the inevitable. It's silly.
All he has to do is not starve on the way to Erid. Then he'll be the only human on the planet. For the rest of his life. Which is not scary at all.
