    Summary

Another bubble of emotion, another moment where Etho knew his mind wasn’t keeping up with his mouth.“I know, but like, what if you miss one of your water bucket drops, you know?”

It wasn’t like him and Joel knew each other that well- it was a valid question to have. It was more about his tone, the way Joel’s eyes flashed with a far too large amount of clarity for mere acquaintances. He took another step closer, dropping the pickaxe back to his side just so he could reach up and brush what had to be dirt off of Etho’s shoulder. The touch felt like a dead redstone wire, a low heat that felt more dangerous than it was. It was still there though, especially since Joel hadn’t moved his hand off his shoulder after he was done. It was awkward, a brotherly kind of clasp that didn’t match the way his fingers twitched like he was feeling the heat as well. It felt vulnerable, for some reason, and that wasn’t something either of them dealt with well. Looking up at him, Joel’s mouth opened and closed for a moment before a familiar fire seemed to reignite back in his eyes, throwing sparks like embers in the forges.

    “I never miss.”

Etho and Joel are soulmates, Etho doesn't know how to feel about it all.

    Summary

It was quiet, Etho running his hands through his hair. A summons, from the king. Something Etho really couldn’t ignore. He wasn’t a prince, he wasn’t even the words behind the letters. Oh gods, had the king gotten a hold of some of Pearl’s letters? If that happened, there was no way Etho would be able to-

To do what? What was Etho even saying? To do…another scam? The biggest scam they could ever do. A robbery of the royal vault, filled to the brim with gold, more than any of them could spend in one lifetime.

It was like the three of them got to the same place at the same time, all three of them looking up at each other with varying degrees of excitement. “We can’t.” Tango instantly said, a smile already starting to grow on his face.

“It would be a death wish.” Etho agreed.

“I mean,” Pearl paused, eyes flicking down towards the letter again. “Ignoring a summons like that, that would be a death wish as well.” There was another pause, Pearl letting the sentiment really sink in. Then-

“It would be the greatest scam we could ever do.”

-Etho accidentally lies his way into his kingdom's castle, and worse, into the sights of the king.-

    Summary

Death, as a concept, has never been something that scary to Etho.

“Man, they are-” Etho swallowed hard, cringing at how tight his voice sounded. “They are really waiting till the last moment, aren’t they?”

None of them asked who ‘they’ were. Etho really didn’t know himself, it was just easier to blame something like this on someone other than his failing body. Of course, his body didn’t feel like it was failing, but it had to be, because he was dying. He was supposed to be dying, or dead, at 35. He was supposed to-

    Five minutes left.

“Do you think it will hurt?”

Etho was supposed to die at 35.
    Etho doesn't.

    Summary

Embarrassingly enough, Etho wasn’t sure how long the vase had been sitting on his coffee table. There was a high possibility that his mind just tuned it out, like he had done when it was at Bdubs and his shared apartment. It really was that ugly, the pattern clashing with itself and causing literal headaches, Etho kind of just learned how to ignore it. So sure, Etho wasn’t really aware of how long it had been sitting on his coffee table,

He just knew it shouldn’t be.

-Etho and Bdubs have been broken up for a year. they're totally over it, and not having a custody battle with a vase.

    Summary

Tango really should’ve expected the knock.

It wasn’t surprising to see Etho on the other side of the door, a torn mask and a bloody smile that shouldn't have looked as attractive as it did. His arm was hanging loose at his side, probably dislocated. The superhero just leaned against the frame, making Tango huff out something tired. “Hey, T.” Etho finally spoke, voice sounding a bit tight. “Got room in the inn?”

    “You’re so stupid, man.”

Etho, Tango, and the fact that nothing changes, even if they wanted it to.

    Summary

“It’s not my fault people leave expensive products lying around during a frat party.”

The argument could be made that they weren’t leaving things out, the light bulbs were kind of needed but…

40 bucks? For nothing but baring through a frat party? Joel could get behind something like that. The guy had stuffed the bulb back into his jacket along with his hands, tilting his head back and forth as Joel stared at him Honestly, he looked like any other tired college student, one that could slip in and out of a party without much trouble. “...How do you tell the difference?” Joel found himself asking.

There was a pause, the guy’s eyes crinkling further for a moment before they fell back into some form of practiced neutrality. “Why?” He asked back, stepping closer to Joel. “Looking to get into the light bulb resale market?”

    “Maybe.”

“Then why would I help a competitor?”

Or, instead of ratting out a random guy with sticky fingers, Joel decides to beat him at his own game.

    Summary

Etho’s problems usually stemmed from the fact that he was a curious kind of guy. He likes to figure out how things worked, he experienced new things and documents what he found out. It was never enough to hear the basic details, Etho liked and wanted to get dirty himself.

In other news, Joel has recently gotten a tongue piercing.

And Etho had never kissed someone with a tongue piercing before.

    Summary

Joel was wearing his stupid see-through-paper-thin t-shirt again. Etho swore to god that he had thrown that shirt in the garbage the last time the two of them cleaned out the house, mainly because of the before mentioned thinness of the material. It had to be at least ten years old, and the fact that it didn’t have any holes in it was a miracle in itself. Another miracle was the apparent second coming of the shirt, or Joel had noticed Etho’s attempt to get rid of it and fished it out of the trash bag before without him noticing. Either way, it really wasn’t the problem Etho was having, though it did send a tiny flash of annoyance down Etho’s spine when he realized what Joel was wearing.

No, Etho really didn’t care that much that Joel was wearing the stupid tee-shirt again, it was that Etho didn’t think he looked completely ugly while doing so.

    Which was weird.

Or: Etho realizes he might like Joel a bit more than a friend, and promptly spirals through the five stages of grief

    Summary

“Six months.” Joel pitched again, keeping his hand around Etho’s wrist like he was afraid that Etho was going to try to leave again. “We pretend for six months, we can call it quits. It’s four friend events and weekends, other than that I’ll keep out of your hair and your life.”

Five years, seven months, and thirteen days. Etho and Joel had stayed away from each other for five years, seven months, and thirteen days.

Five years down the drain, since Etho let out another sigh before holding out his hand for a pen.

“So, what do you want to be when this is all over?”

“I’m sorry?” Etho finally asked back, shaking off the surprise like Scott knew he was gonna going to.

“I said,” Scott started again, closing the top of the chest he was looking in before turning around to sit on it. “What do you want to be when this game is done? When we all kill each other and have a winner and celebrate and then do it again. What do you want to be?”

-Scott wants to know where he'll land in Etho's whole past partners thing. Etho just wants to clean the stolen sword he got. They talk, but don't.-

    Summary

A distinct sound of rockets reminded Etho he wasn’t alone on the server, a tiny hum under a certain someone's breath making Etho’s blood pressure rise. A block was broken, easily sucked into his inventory as Tango dropped into Etho’s redstone. A large- far too smug- smile stretched across his face as he took in Etho’s desperation, something knowing lurking in the back of his eyes that reminded Etho of his own reflection.

“You’re an asshole.” Etho immediately said as soon as Tango opened his mouth to speak.

Tango’s smile just grew. “What, no hello?”

“Hello’s are given to people who don’t pass on their weird possession curse.”

Etho’s stomach cramped at the laugh Tango let out, the sound echoing oddly in all the redstone parts. “Come on Etho,” Tango held out the last syllable in his name. Etho was starting to think his eye was twitching. “I didn’t pass it to you. You won.”

-something followed Etho to Hermitcraft 10, and he can't say he's happy about his new guest.
