Carefully he approached her, and was proud to say that it had been weeks since Yosano last flinched away from him.
"It's more quiet here, isn't it?"
She turned her head downwards and nodded, looking ashamed. So the noise wasn't what made her retreat. Hm.
For a few minutes they sat in silence, but Ranpo wasn't Ranpo without his impatience.

Summary
Edgar was trained to be a weapon, Lucy was trained to be a compliant woman. Both of them suffered a terrible past, but having left behind the place that broke them they started a new life. Living under poor conditions, Lucy tries to financially support her brother and herself as well as she can, while Edgar writes and writes with no success in sight. They both know it has to change, and so Poe takes it onto himself to save them from debt. One mistake leads to another, and he uncovers more than he had ever been hoping to find.

Summary
The first time he felt a connection, something unlike the one he shared with Yosano or Fukuzawa. The mind of the man had enthralled him, but so had the careful fingers while he had examined the bodys state, or the posture so confident and glowing it almost put Ranpos to shame, or his face, his brows that crinkled ever so slightly with every new evidence uncovered, he eyes, going through all different stages, widening in surprise, glowing in confidence, narrowing in fear.

“ Before the Decay of Angels, food wrappers were common in Ranpo’s waste bin: crushed chip bags, colourful lollipop wrappers, boxes that held Fuji apples that Poe regularly gifts him. He rarely threw anything else out; he swept maybe once a month and the casings of empty pens — an occurrence hardly achieved—are thrown out in the Agency office building rather than at his dorm. Despite the necessity of emptying it every day, it would always be full by 8pm.
And then Ranpo returned after proving Dazai’s and Kyuoka’s innocence and convincing Mushitaro to erase Fukuzawa’s crimes. At the end of the day, he realised that he had nothing to throw out. ”
