Summary
“Jongseong.” Jaeyun lifts his head and gives this man the full weight of the eyes, the wide dark imploring look he has been using to devastating effect since nursery. He softens his voice to the register that has never yet failed him. “Please. It is only Sunghoon. He amuses me and I cannot sleep, and I am wretched. Truly I am. Look at me, I am a wretched thing tonight and I want cheering, and there is not another soul in this castle who can do it. You needn't fear for my name. Bring him quietly by the back stair and no one shall be the wiser, and I shall remember your kindness. I always remember, don't I?”
Jongseong does nothing but stare at him for a long minute. Then he sighs from somewhere very deep. “You always get your way, my lord,” he mutters but his voice is laced with grim affection. “It will be the ruin of the pair of us.”

Summary
The first letter came to him in 2020, now forgotten three years later, hidden between the pages of a dusty notebook he hasn't opened in ages.
To Jake, are you surprised by my letter? I learned a lot from you. I hope you succeed. From…Jay.
The second letter comes to him first in the Christmas of 2020, written in colored pens in the living room of their first dorm. It comes back to him on the last day of November 2023.
To Jaeyunie, This is 2020 Jongseong. At this point, would we still be eating ramyeon every night? Would we be closer than before?
The third letter finds him on the evening of Jay’s birthday. Or rather, he finds it, pressed between surfaces meant to conceal it. Curious, he opens the folded paper, only to find the penmanship he knows all too well.
Sim Jaeyun... What should I do?

Summary
Jake loved drawing. It calmed him, helped him ease down. His pen always brushed easily along the white, thin paper. It was something he could look forward to, have a purpose in his life other than trying to appease his father.
Nonetheless, once it was Jay he saw on the paper, it got to him.
Jake stopped drawing. He played sports, went to parties, and never touched a sketchbook again. Jay had always been the same, a new phase here and there, but at the end of the day, he stuck to what he knew. That was the difference between them. Jake listened to everyone around him, gave in to advice that people gave him that, realistically, didn’t matter at all, and he knew it didn’t matter, but not wanting to admit certain things about himself won the battle.
So college arriving at his doorstep wasn’t good for him. Because with adulthood, he didn’t have the excuse of being a stupid teenager who made decisions he knew were secretly not the best for him, decisions that would cause him to lose who he was.
The only good thing about it was that he had Jay through it all.
