Summary
The time comes for Hiccup to finally prove himself in front of all of Berk, and he knows he can't do it. He won't do it. Convinced there is no way he could ever change people's minds about dragons, he runs away from home into the great wide world.
Meanwhile, life on Berk carries on much the same. How much of a difference could one scrawny little boy have made anyway? Five years after the chief's son's disappearance, how much of a difference can Astrid Hofferson make in the war against the dragons?
This is the story of Hiccup, and how he became the elusive Dragon Master. It is also the story of Astrid, Snotlout, and everyone else, if a certain very strange enchanted boy had departed from their lives too early.
