When they’d first met, just after Ryusui had been revived, Ryusui had made his move. He wasn’t one to wait. He’d found Ukyo finishing up making a new batch of arrows, had snapped his fingers in front of his face, and leaned in, flashing a grin and said, plainly, “I desire you.”
It usually worked. Or if not worked, at least provoked a reaction. A blush, a laugh, annoyance - something. Ryusui was a lot, and he knew it. But he was also handsome, clever, and confident enough to get away with being a lot. People reacted.
Instead, Ukyo had raised a single eyebrow and said, “I’m a wait-for-the-third-date kind of guy,” in the same tone he might use to comment on the weather. Then he’d turned and walked off to go spar with Kohaku, leaving Ryusui standing there like a fish gasping on the beach.

Ukyo's pretty clearly not impressed with Ryusui. And that would be fine, except Ryusui has started to cough up flowers, and Ruri's telling him it's because he's in love with someone who doesn't love him back.

yeah this deserves to be bookmarked. it's the top fic in the sengen tag for a reason. lovely, so sweet, and all of the conversations are so entertaining! i really like how their dynamic was written, which is sooo important in such a dialogue/text conversation heavy fic. so cute and just as fun upon rereading!

He regrets the words the moment they come out of his mouth. But that other, older Spock said that he needed to get command of the ship, and to do so, must get his younger counterpart to acknowledge his emotions. Spock is not the first Vulcan Jim has had dealings with, and he can think of few things that would get T’pri as riled up as quickly as insinuating that she doesn’t love him.
He gambles that Spock is the same about his mother, and it pays off.
(Or, the one where Jim has a Vulcan daughter, and it leads to all sorts of emotions.)

into the bookmarks it goes! i love how this fic deals with jim and t'pri's trauma and the connection and love that they share. really got me emotional that he did nothing but right by her, as bones said. the depth of his trauma & understanding that it always impacts him (and t'pri) and that even speaking about it is difficult for someone as seemingly open with his emotions as jim presents himself as AND with spock, who he really truly wants to tell.... ough. rambling but it was so so good and i feel like my heart got grabbed and gently twisted several times. 10/10
