Performance Issues, HotGuy?
By GrianIn recent weeks, HotGuy has been leaving much to be desired on the battlefield. It seems after many long, hard fights, he just can’t keep it up. He used to be quite anal about his victories, but now he’s had a few close calls. Could it be that his arrows just aren’t what they used to be? Is he firing blanks? I wouldn’t be surprised if his enemies are having to fake their defeat. Of course, HotGuy is far from the only man who struggles to hit the target, so maybe I shouldn’t be so harsh.
Three of HotGuy’s record fights for injuries and collateral damage have all occurred this month, an alarming statistic in the face of the continued attacks. The root of the issue may be difficult to swallow…Series

Gawd this is SO good, and what an interesting concept!! Superhero falls in love with a reporter who reports on how bad he is at his job asakwbhf I loveeee it. Also very well written!!!! (It has to be intentional that it has 66,666 words and 6 chapters, and that says a lot about the amount of hard work the author put in lol.) I love how Mumbo has a crush on HotGuy and Grian's just tryin to write a good article (good luck buddy you're already falling for this man.) ALSO it's illustrated YIPPEEEEE!!!!!!
I obviously have only read the first chapter so far but MAN is it good. Highly recommend- I'll probably update this bookmark when I finish with more notes as well.This was great!! I love how the plot gets more important towards the end- although certain things that happened towards the end were... PAINFUL to say the least... but hey I knew what I was getting into from the tags and still enjoyed it a lot!! (I'm not complaining about the story because like everyone knows you need bad things to happen for plot and stuff, tbh I'm mostly complaining about HOW GOOD AT WRITING the author is- they are very good at making me feel pain.
Anywaysss I really enjoyed this! Especially the last chapter. The action scenes in the last chapter were really good.

Summary
Grian never thought he’d win the first game, but in hindsight, he’s glad he did. Sure, it was painful coming back to hermitcraft and realizing no one but him was cursed with the knowledge of what had happened. It was especially painful still loving Scar, and Scar being none the wiser.
Still, it got easier to manage with time. Besides, it’s what he deserves for making such a horrible deal in the first place. He alone would know what truly happened in the game, and if that lessened the suffering of the other participants, then it was worth it.
Boy was he wrong.

Aghhh I LOVE this!!! I’m a sucker for a good “winners keep their memories” fic, especially with Scarian… definitely did NOT cry, who said that cough cough 👀
(This kind of au also makes me happy and sad at the same time because Scar’s memories return after the end of Secret Life, and so all his references in Wild Life hit 10 times harder, as well as all the trauma he probably has from Secret Life 😭😭)
In all seriousness, I love this concept and the writing was terrific! So excited to see it update with Past Life, I’m hoping for a Gem win but will be happy for anything that gives me lore to obsess over tbh. Jimmy would be so cool, going from the Canary to a winner, and honestly anyone allied with Scott would make me happy. (As you can probably tell I’m hoping for any of the patterns/curses/blessings from previous seasons to return lol
Yes I know a bookmark is a weird place to rant don’t judge me 😅Back after the Past Life finale, and GAH I love how this author portrays Martyn’s win, with him and Grian thinking the winner would be taken! Soo well done. I must admit I enjoyed the Scarian at the end even more though… it kinda ripped my heart into shreds because AHHH of course Grian’s trying to sacrifice himself and AHHH of course Scar’s looking out for him! It really hit me hard how Grian realized that sacrificing himself would only hurt the people he loved, even if he wanted to do it to help them. My favorite part is how the use of knowledge changed from “the winner is cursed with the knowledge of what happened” to “Grian had the knowledge that he was loved” MY HEART this fic is so well named!

Summary
Grian slept fitfully. His dreams were odd, starting off normal and slowly deteriorating. He found himself on a beach with a map in his hands. That much was normal, routine. What was strange was the level of alarm that filtered through him once his consciousness realized Scar was not at his side.
And then, there was the song.
Faintly, Grian heard someone singing. It was a haunting sound, slow and looping. There were words, but the language in which they were spoken was garbled, lost in the melody. For some reason, he felt as though it wasn’t meant for his ears. He felt like it had picked someone else.

Grian and Scar are sailors who delight in the adventure of exploring uncharted territory. Unbeknownst to them, they are not alone in the water.

For a moment, Scar thought he saw Grian’s gaze dip again, but with distance between them, and the glare from a lamp on the other man’s glasses, he couldn’t be entirely sure. It made his heart squeeze all the same.
Grian straightened, huffing, “No.”
Scar hesitated. “Are you sure?”
“Positive,” Grian said. He leaned into the couch cushions, his countenance changing with the wave of a hand. His face relaxed, his legs crossed in front of him, and a wide smile split his lips. “You’ll pay for what you’ve done in due time.”

This was so funnn ahhhhahhaaa I loved it. It was soo cute and halarious. It’s basically just Scar enduring Grian’s “fake” flirting for a whole day, and in extension, the students teasing them about it (they’re teachers). *sigh* my beautiful Scarian
Now here’s the part of this I wrote last night.
I stayed up way too late reading this and I have no regrets. I saw it and I was like. I shouldn’t start reading this, it’s too late already. But the part of my brain that was unnaturally excited by the idea of them flirting as a prank won out. This was actually hilarious, Cal has a great sense of humor (which I already knew, of course, but I must state it again for good measure)! I am 100% one of the students, I too would have tried extra hard for an A plus if it meant knowing juicy gossip, especially if that gossip was whether Scar and Grian were together…
When they kissed my sleep deprived self felt as if I was ascending to godhood.
Now that my Scarian cravings have been satisfied, I’m going to bed -

Summary
“One more life to go…” they chant, their voices a hollow echo. “One more life to go…"
And this time, Grian doesn’t even hesitate.
He walks to the edge of the cliff, looking out over the desert they once fought to protect. The wind blows softly, carrying with it the faintest whisper of memories. Grian closes his eyes, feeling the breeze brush against his useless, clipped wings, a strange ache in his chest.
He takes a deep breath, stepping forward, his taloned feet finding only the air beneath him.
And then he’s falling.
It felt like flying.
or; after beating Scar to death in the cactus ring, Grian jumps off monopoly mountain to escape the pain and devastation. Waking up back on hermitcraft, Grian realizes he is the only one to remember the events of third life.
He also does not remember anything *but* third life.

A beautifully written fic that also made me cry... also it's such a cool concept when I found it I was like OOOOO
I’ve seen aus where only the winners remember the life series, but I’ve never seen anything like this, where they ONLY remember the life series. So cool! Also, as you can probably guess, lots of potential for angst and confusion and general entertainment :D
