–wherein Kuramochi Youichi is an older brother first than a friend.
And has the duty and responsibility of making sure that one sadistic-ruthless-catcher-somewhat-friend doesn't get ahold of his awkward-gullible-pitcher-and-sworn-to-protect-younger-brother but fate doesn't let him do his job peacefully because the universe says that Miyuki Kazuya and Sawamura Eijun are made for each other.
But nonetheless, futilely tries his best because he cares for and loves Eijun even he won't ever admit that to anyone and whom he thinks deserves everything good and life.
And Miyuki isn't really the person capable of gving his brother that – Youichi sullenly thinks.
Or,
Youichi being a third wheel without really being a third wheel on Eijun and Miyuki's lovelife because he's overprotective like that.
But basically, this is all about Youichi and Eijun's story about being brothers.

"Uh...It's been almost three years," Sawamura said. There was a moment of shocked silence before Sawamura asked, "You didn't know?"

Sawamura blinked a little bit before letting out a quiet sound. "Oh. I guess I didn't." He lifted one hand, reaching up to rub at the back of his neck. "Sorry, Harucchi. I guess I'm so used to all of my friends from home knowing that I just forgot that my new friends didn't know."

Eijun falls in love when he’s four and Ya-chan says “I don’t like pudding” and shoves the pudding into his hands. Before that, they were playing catch in Eijun’s backyard, and it’s just the best thing that Eijun has ever had that Eijun called him Ya-chan instead of Kazuya-kun. Ya-chan giggles and eats all of Ejun’s watermelon slices. While Eijun’s the child that spits out all the watermelon seeds, Ya-chan swallows all of them and pinches Eijun’s nose when he makes a face.

“You can’t just send me stuff like that with no context, Miyuki Kazuya.” The familiar tones of Sawamura’s voice rumble through his ear, so loud that Miyuki has to pull the phone away from his face. “What do you mean, pretend to go out with you?”
Miyuki asks Sawamura to do him a favor.
