Summary
Dan asked Herbert the same question again one night, playing with his fingers in bed. “Am I going to Hell?”
Herbert had sighed tiredly. They’d been over this. At this point, Dan should have made his peace; he’d either punish himself until the end of his days, or he’d set himself free. Herbert was sick of the attention afforded to this particular fallacy, anyway. And yet, that night, he chose a new answer.
“Who knows,” Herbert said, “but I’ll be there, too.”
He expected a spark of fear in Dan’s eyes, but instead, he saw only relief. Dan pressed Herbert’s hand to his mouth.
Now, 9 months later, sitting alone in the cold basement, just one floor below Dan and his perfect girlfriend, Herbert would like to change his answer.

Summary
A pulpy, silly, gory, and ultimately smutty novella in four parts.
Fed up with Herbert's chafing attitude in the aftermath of a scientific setback, Dan moves out and temporarily severs ties with his lover. Absence makes the heart grow fonder—or just drives them both to extreme ends to cope with the split and get each other's attention.

Summary
Indeed, there they are. The same group as always. The goths, Dan, said by Herbert with the same annoyance as his annoyance at the maggots that encroached on their subjects. Dan looks at the dour little committee of college students, all with teased up hair and drapey fabrics, and instead thinks about the bats in the attic of 666 Darkmore lane. They stopped coming after he nailed a couple of their carcasses to the house’s facade; maybe letting Herbert fire off a shot at the trespassers isn’t that bad of an idea, after all. He clings onto his hippocratic oath with bloody fingernails. Annoying people still deserve to live. He’s not sure if he’s applying the sentiment more to the kids or Herbert.

When said in regards to anyone else, this sounds ridiculous and controlling, but this is Herbert; it all feels deeply wrong. But it’s just conversation, a few smiles. Dan should ignore it. No one seems to notice it eating away at him, anyway, so no need to mention it. No one can see he’s gnashing his teeth against his muzzle.

"Well, apparently," Garak said, "Cardassia has lodged a formal request with the Federation for my extradition."

"Well," Garak said brightly, keeping his smile on his face, even though Bashir couldn't see it, thinking of the jar Bashir had dipped his finger into. "This is awkward."
"I should've been more careful," said Bashir. "Oh, well, it's not too bad. It's not as if this isn't something that happens all the time. We had a seminar on it first year of Academy. You've accidentally married someone in an alien ceremony, what next? It's not like we intend to stay here." Bashir flopped back on the bed, damp tunic and all, and looked up at him. "I feel less worried about getting back in time than I should. I don't know if I'm just too tired, or it's something about this place. Oh, well. Let's discuss it in the morning." He pulled his long bare legs up and shuffled around into a more comfortable position, facing away from Garak. "Go to sleep."
