Zanka fiddled with the tube of his IV, absentmindedly kneading it between the fingers of his right hand, and counted tiles overhead. Lost count; his vision wasn’t cooperating enough. Switched to eyeing the lines of curtain rods.
The whole disaster was something of another level. Zanka couldn’t recall this room being so full, hadn’t probably ever seen the curtains between beds drawn, sure never saw the IV stands being used for treating more than one person at a time. Someone out of his view, whom he most likely didn’t even know, was snoring lightly and shifting in their sleep.

Понимал, что как бы он ни старался, что бы ни выдумывал, ни он, ни Шисуи, ни кто-либо из них не будет в безопасности; что случись восстание, все Учихи будут бесславно убиты, да и вообще, как только Совету окончательно надоест ждать решений Хокаге и они возьмут дело в свои руки… Что ж. Учитывая авторитет и власть Данзо, ему достаточно только отдать приказ спустить на бунтовщиков Корень, и всё будет кончено.
Что до самого Итачи, то он — не большее, чем безвольная побитая собака на цепи, одна из многих.

At Penta, when they had met Amo, Zanka had not expected the fear of Enjin dying to shake him as bad as it had done so.
It's all a bad nightmare that replays in his head every now and then. Zanka does not expect it to be more than that. He does not expect the violent nature it grows, the images he can't look away from.
Zanka does not expect his fear to bleed so profusely onto his day to day life. Slowly, Zanka's control slips, it does so until it creates friction between him an Enjin. Zanka is fine, he just needs time to be alone.
It all comes to a breaking point.
