Summary
It had been a while since Andy had last played with toys.
Not because he didn't have any anymore, having grown almost into a legal adult by now - he knew most people his age had long since stopped playing with toys and gotten rid of theirs by now, but he hadn't abandoned his. And yet, he hadn't really played with them much recently either. Not that he hadn't tried, in fact, that was sort of the problem.

Summary
It wasn't Bill—Bill had been dead for years.
It wasn't an attack by another anomaly—they'd fought off their fair share of those.
It wasn't even any of the natural health problems you might expect in men of their age and histories—they'd headed off some of those issues, but were both surprisingly hale and hearty, on the whole.
No. This was something Ford hadn't even thought to fear.
"I'm thinkin' it's probably time for me to call it a day on this sailin' thing and go home," Stanley said. "We’ve both gotta find our own way in the world sooner or later, right?”

Summary
When he opens his eyes, it's dark. Water pools around his shined shoes and he can see himself: not with petals, or a thin stem and a few little leaves, or a bundle of stamen and pistils. No, with a fitting vest, a finely-tailored shirt, and sleek slacks over long legs. With two bright eyes and swooping hair the color of daffodils, his skin glowing like a cherub's. Ears. A pointed nose. A mouth.
A mouth in which to speak.
And, oh, speak is what he will do.
