Summary
Growing up in rural Georgia, Arthur Morgan never really understood the whole gender identity debate that everyone else around him was having. He could barely work his phone half the time, who was he to police others?
So when he finds a disheveled figure half stumbling in the rain on his way to work, he offers them a ride. As luck would have it, it's his new coworker, Shiloh. The boy is timid, hiding behind a cloud of hair and oversized shirts. One day, Arthur walks into the employee bathroom and finds Shiloh adjusting his chest binder, scratches and cuts from many failed attempts to remove it throughout the day. He sees the tears he wipes away when he realizes Arthur is there.
Arthur does the first thing he can think of: offer to take him horseback riding after work to try and cheer him up.

Summary
The concept of balance has never struck Zuko as something he'd understand.Iroh brings it up once after the siege of the North Pole, mentioning the moon and ocean spirits being the koi fish in the Spirit Oasis. They circle each other in an 'eternal dance,' his uncle calls it. Zuko frowns at the mention, only remembering battling the Water Tribe girl over the Avatar.
The second time is when he and Aang are facing Ran and Shaw. As they do the Dragon Dance, the prince can't help but notice how they circle each other so perfectly, two parts of a whole.
Even when he and Katara start to call each other "Sun" and "Moon" as they cuddle on the Ember Island beach, the connection still isn't made.
It's only in the midst of the Agni Kai with Azula, feeling her lightning go past him, that he realizes just what his uncle meant all those months ago.
One cannot exist without the other.
Or:
Zuko wasn't fast enough to redirect Azula's lightning.

Summary
Day after day, Vee returned to camp covered in wounds, and night after night, it fell on Alma to nurse her poor hunter back to health. It was almost inevitable that they fall for each other, but as Alma would soon find out, some wounds cut deeper than skin, and not everyone in the Guild looks kindly upon a bond like theirs. As it turned out, the duties of a handler would extend far beyond just authorizing hunts.

"I love you, Katara," Korra declared one day after as she wrapped her little arms around the old waterbender's knees. Big cerulean eyes looked up to her, and for a second, they seemed to flash silver.
She knew it was meant differently this time around. But she could see from the young girl's eyes that the words carried the same certainty and strength she knew. A single tear escaped her as she stooped down to return the hug.
"I love you, too," she whispered.
