Aang had been spending his days in the Fire Nation, training to perfect his firebending. From what he heard Aang had mastered every other element by now. Fire had always been his least favorite but now he was here to face it and become a fully developed avatar. He had come a long way from the overeager kid Zuko had first trained. Aang was now seventeen and wise beyond his years, carrying the weight of the Avatar’s responsibilities with a grace Zuko could only envy.

Irrationally, Zuko wanted to crawl inside himself. Peel those watching eyes off him; don’t look at me! They knew, somehow. They could see it on him. Some kind of tell, some stain he couldn’t see or wash away.
What if they all knew? Laughing behind his back at what he’d given up just for a fraction of a chance to get his honor back.
What honor? Any scrap he’d had left after the Agni Kai was lost the moment he spread his legs for Zhao.
They could all see it, couldn’t they?
Zuko wondered if he could ever be rid of the things Zhao did to him.
Zuko deals with the aftermath.
