“Me and a few of the other rookies are going out for a few drinks. You wanna come and meet the rest?” The expectation in Grayson’s eyes is almost accusing with how it makes Leon’s stomach twist. Because he can’t. Not with Sherry waiting at home. Not with so many things still up in the air. Going out to drink is on the very bottom of his list until he’s certain their house of cards won’t collapse on top of them in the next moment.
He shakes his head with an apologetic grimace. “Sorry, I already have plans. Maybe some other time though,” he quickly tags on. Then, before he can say more and dig himself into a deeper grave, he turns and to leave. But not before he catches a glimpse of Grayson’s hopeful smile.
