“Does L really think I’ll fall for that??”, he asked Ryuk, who was watching the TV with interest. Said Shinigami turned to him, blinking like a cat.
“Fall for what?”
“That!”, Light said, gesturing to the TV frantically. “It’s literally so obvious!” Ryuk looked lost, so Light explained further.
“That is not L!!”

“They were actually.”, L confirmed, nonchalant and not even denying Light’s claim. “They were so high that they couldn’t remember our last name, only that it begins with L, so when they had to write down my official name into the file, they just wrote down L, but being the high morons they were, they wrote it into the first name section. At least that’s what they told me. I’m not too sure if a word out their mouth is believable.”
