He squeezes Eddie a little tighter.
“Wanna talk about it?” Eddie whispers.
“No,” Steve murmurs. “I just want…you.”
“You have me,” Eddie replies, rubbing a hand over his back.
And while Steve loves Eddie’s reassurance, loves his warm arms and the way he murmurs quietly to him, it’s not entirely what he means right now. He shifts a little in Eddie’s hold, presses his crotch to the other man’s thigh, hopes he gets the message without words because Steve’s wrung out and shattered but needs him.
“…oh,” Eddie breathes, and Steve can hear his little smile. “Here, come with me.”

Steve shakes his head. “You can touch me there,” he whispers, and Eddie suppresses a groan.
God, saying goodbye to him might just kill Eddie.

Steve’s drooling into the pillow a little by the time Eddie’s thumb presses to his hole. He twitches, brows furrowing a little, and it’s nice but he really doesn’t have the energy for this. “Eddie, I’m not sure I can do this tonight.”
A soft noise escapes Eddie. He leans down, kisses Steve’s lower back. “No, sweetheart, I know. I wanted to try something else, if you’ll let me. I promise you can just lie there and I’ll take care of you.”
Steve considers that for a moment, then nods, eyes fluttering closed.
He feels his cheeks being spread apart further.
And then, something warm and wet against his hole.

“He wasn’t flirting with me, Robin. He was being nice. We’re neighbors.” Steve attempted to walk back towards his office, but Robin boxed him in. “Denial isn’t a good look on you, Steve.”

It’s the first time in a while that he doesn’t know what comes next. He’s dove into the water hundreds of times. Screamed as his flesh was torn apart, heard Master of Puppets in the distance and held back tears. Felt Max’s cold, small hand in his as she laid in the hospital bed. There are things that always happen, no matter how hard he tries: El doesn’t arrive in time. Eddie dies. Max is put in a coma.
Steve fails. They lose.
“Steve, how many loops have you been through?”
His head is nodding, and his eyes are watery, and Eddie has approached him like a spooked animal.
“I lost count.”
AKA: The one where Steve Harrington is stuck in a time loop, and Eddie Munson is really fucking hard to save, or: fuck Volume 2, these bitches are in love.
