Once upon a time, there was a prince trapped in a foreboding tower by his father.
It wasn’t always this way, however. The prince had a semblance of freedom in his youth, or what one could consider freedom if they didn’t know any better, which the prince did not. His life existed within the confines of the tower and the surrounding gardens, looking down at what was his birthright from up above surrounded in a never-ending storm on the outskirts.
Or, the Nameless Bard is the Prince of Mondstadt, born to Decarabian and Amos. The people beg for their freedom...and one day the prince shall answer their call.

Didn't he dispel the storm wall? Why couldn't he see the sky?
"Little friend!" He hears a familiar voice call out, and he freezes, "Why do you seem so down?" The voice continues, so painstakingly familiar. Venti glances at the direction of the voice and stiffens, because there is his friend, looking just as he remembers him, so reminiscent of a fleeting past, with outstretched hands just like his statue in front of the church in Mondstadt. "We will be free soon, and we will be able to see the sky and the world beyond," The bard continued, "There is no reason to be so glum."
Oh, Venti realizes, I am here again.
or alternatively, the fic in which venti falls asleep again and wakes up in a time where they haven't overthrown decarabian yet and the nameless bard is still alive. naturally, venti plans to keep him that way.

Mondstadt may not be as prosperous as it once was, but these trivial grievances will all be resolved once we are truly free.”
