Sometimes being with someone weighs heavier than their absence. Sometimes you just want to stay down in the depths, but if Will knows anything for certain, it's that most things end where they start. And that he has no choice but to ball his fists, cuss himself out, follow suit and hold on tight.

Will finally agrees to see a therapist, Bedelia, but the truth is he's only seeing her to feel closer to Hannibal. Soon enough, The FBI calls him back into work, to meet with, of course, Hannibal. Over time they rebuild their bond, and eventually, Hannibal gets out... Will has to decide, will he remain a husband to Molly, or a runaway bride to Hannibal?

Hannibal looks up from where he’s plating their dinner. For a few seconds it looks like he genuinely can’t process what Will’s just said.
“Are you ill?” he asks at last. Will shakes his head, but Hannibal still walks over and presses the back of his hand to Will’s forehead, his cheek. Finding them normal, he frowns. Will shrugs.
“Just not hungry tonight. Had a big lunch.” In fact, it was no more substantial than their usual fare. Hannibal hesitates, then nods slowly.
“I’ll put your portion in the fridge. You’ll want it later.”

This is a rewrite of the first season of Hannibal exploring how the story could have unfolded if Hannibal was a non-toxic character capable of forming genuine bonds with other people even with his psychopathy. This is what the story could have been without Hannibal being toxic, manipulative, and abusive towards Will while still keeping the core traits of his character the same (he's still a psychopath, he's still a serial killer, he's still a cannibal).
