Summary
Due to Abby Lockhart alerting Kerry Weaver and Mark Greene of John Carter’s drug addiction, they both stage an intervention. When Abby tells Lucy, she refuses to believe it, but regardless she still decides to join them for the intervention. When he storms out, Lucy is the only one who follows suit. Because of this, they’re both forced to confront their past, their trauma, and what their futures hold for them.

Peter waits for the shock to wear off and the pain to kick in, touch already roving over his abdomen to find where the bullet must have entered. He comes up empty. From further back in the trauma room, Carol's voice suddenly emerges, thick with grief.
“Oh my god, Carter.”
He turns to look immediately, finding his former student standing in the spot he himself occupied just moments ago. The boy’s eyes are directed at his own abdomen, at the hands that clutch it before he pulls them away, stained with blood.

Charts flutter to the floor and John’s shoes skip on the linoleum, jacket flying out behind him. One of Peter’s hands cups his waist, like nothing, like it’s made to fit just there. When he notices it, his body does too. It’s an interesting feeling. Like he doesn’t have enough blood to supply to both his blushing cheeks and his stirring dick.
“Buy a girl dinner first,” he snaps, ripping himself out of Benton’s grasp. He takes a moment to adjust his tie, hoping it distracts from the way he has to also tug at the tight front of his pants.
“If that counts as second base, it explains a lot about you, Carter.” There's a curl to Benton’s mouth.
John Carter pursues an interesting thought.

His right eye was swollen shut and blood covered that side of his face in thick patches. He was barely breathing, crushed, and bleeding and they'd been stuck in the rain for what seemed like an eternity.
