The man in front of Noel seemed utterly out of place. He had perfectly coiffed black hair and was dressed in a white suit more fit for a dinner at some swanky restaurant than a battlefield. There wasn’t a speck of dirt or blood on him or his clothes. He looked as though he’d either avoided the blast entirely or somehow neatly picked his way through the aftermath, steering the dust away from him as he walked. He definitely wasn’t a soldier, a medic, or anyone else who could be expected to be in the middle of a war zone.

Charlie steps into the shower and reaches for the tap, careful to keep his distance as the water sputters to life, sharp and cold. He waits for it to warm, fingers resting against the tile, and lets his gaze drift back without really thinking about it.
John is halfway through undressing, all long lines and smooth, mahogany skin, undoing the braid in his long, dark hair. Arthur is focused on peeling off his socks, slender hands working methodically, familiar and dear in their precision. Charlie tries, briefly, not to stare.
Then he realizes there’s no reason not to. He’s allowed.
