Sam Wilson meets Steve Rogers, who has become more suspicious of SHIELD and the people he works for. Steve decides to trust this new friend in the fight to unmask Hydra and take them down.
What no one expects is who the Winter Soldier actually is.
A rewrite of a fic published in 2021. Some things will be the same, some will change, which is why I deleted the old one and am now posting a new one.
This will follow the events of Captain America: Birth of the Winter Soldier and the A(BO)vengers. However, it is not necessary to have read other parts of the two series, but it may help to read Captain America: The Birth of the Winter Soldier for minor details that were covered. :)

All Sam Wilson knew was his hometown Delacroix; it was secluded, quiet, and very traditional. There was a very bold line drawn between the roles of Alphas, Betas, and Omegas. These lines kept the town running and upheld its most prescious values. Though, Sam disagreed with most of them, but he wouldn't dare mention that aloud. It was home though.
He had managed to escape his role and duties as a proper Omega for quite some time. Now, well past his prime, it is time for him to present himself to the community and find a mate. Sam is not happy about this in the slightest, but his parents grow older and their patience far thinner.
But something changes after Sam's presentation...a shift.
Existing rumors about him get worse. People he's known all his life start to act strange towards him. His loved ones suddenly become so distant. Unbeknownst to him, plans are being set in place, secrets are becoming less hidden, and an insidious energy grows in the air.

Sam wakes up in a puddle of his own slick and immediately starts cussing out the universe. His heat tracking app said he wasn’t due for another week, but like how everything in his less-than-normal life has treated him, it seems, the universe just loves taking Sam’s expectations and hurling them into the goddamn Sun.
It shouldn't be as hard as it is, crawling off his bed and stumbling into his bathroom to rip open his medicine chest and search for his suppressants. Only it is because the bottle he normally keeps on the second shelf behind his reservoir of first aid supplies is gone. Like, not even on the first or third shelf, or anywhere in his bathroom, type of gone. It’s gone gone. Disappeared from existence. No little orange bottle with ‘SAM’ plastered on the side anywhere to be found, just a pink sticky note that fell behind his toilet with nothing but a single word, signed by a single letter.
