Officially, the Forest Ranger would state that the General was his escort through the treacherous plains. Less officially, both Cyno and Tighnari knew he was capable of handling himself, and the occasion was much less formal than that. In reality, they were two friends whose goals had aligned, and travelling together was to the benefit of them both. (Though, at least for Cyno, the benefit was more personal than it was professional.)

The tension wrapped so tightly around his neck that he could barely breathe. But it's Cyno that speaks first, breaking the stalemate that they had with a simple question, one that Tighnari has heard so many times. One that he was just about to ask Cyno just minutes prior. One that he didn’t know that he longed to hear from Cyno’s lips up until this moment.
Cyno asks, with an airiness to his voice as if he too was having trouble breathing, "Can I kiss you?"
Tighnari reflects on all the three times he's been at the receiving end of a romantic escapade - and the one time where he reciprocates.
