Chris Redfield had thought that when he left Africa, he finally left Albert Wesker behind him. The past, the pain, the trauma he had to endure for so long. This was a fresh start for him. A new beginning. A change in the world for the better.
Little did he know that when he left Africa, he wasn't alone. He looks down and sees it there, splattered across the palms of his hands and feels the world tilt on its axis for a moment. Sees the darkened planks of a damaged rowboat, the water littered with that same red stain, dark and daunting to match the blackened veins on his skin. An old corpse floating at the surface, a monster fed on a diet of the burned bodies of non-believers.
He blinks, coming to by a windowsill, staring at the pavement below like a man possessed. He’s rusty, that much is clear, but he still has years of trained instincts to rely on, and catches himself in a practiced roll. His surroundings aren’t entirely unfamiliar, laden with fuzzy memories of clumsy hands pulling at garden weeds, and making mud-pies during Spring showers. It nearly catches him as he stares at that picket fence between himself and the backyard, but he wrenches his mind back with another glance at those red-stained hands, the pacifier lying dirtied and abandoned on the drive.
He’s an agent, a man with a body count, and he can’t forget that anymore.

Wesker inched toward his bedroom and kept as quiet as possible. Then, he heard a sneeze. He blinked and stopped in his tracks. Another sneeze. He lowered his shoulders and began to walk at a normal pace again.
Chris sniffled when he walked in. He was bundled under a few blankets and a box of tissues was placed on the bedside table. He was red in the face and looked like he was sweating, but he was shivering. Wesker crossed the room and bent at the knees to drop to eye level. He placed his palm on Chris’s forehead and it came away burning hot and covered in sweat. He frowned and began to peel back the blankets his boyfriend had piled on top of him.
“Wesker,” Chris whined. “‘M cold. Give those back.”
