The world ends in 2012. Stranded in the woods with the rest of his family, Techno becomes focused on survival instead of the life he knew before. When survival gives way to routine, something darker grows to fill the cracks left by loss.
Like the end of the world, Techno almost doesn't notice anything happening at all. Until it's too late, anyway. -

Producing an heir was the main purpose behind any political marriage. True enough, plenty of couples waited a few years before they started to have children, but Techno didn’t want to risk it. He’d heard horror stories here and there of noble ladies pushed aside in favor of a mistress because they failed to get pregnant fast enough for their royal husband’s liking. Technoblade wouldn’t become one of them. Surely, if he gave Phil an heir, it would firmly secure their ties, and he’d never have to fear being sent back to his horrible family.

Ranboo never really liked his ender side. He wouldn't always know what he did when it took over, but it looked like tonight was different than others. He was in his body but couldn't control it, he could just think and see.
He teleported into a room and realized that there was someone in it.
He had turned around and found Techno frantically pulling the covers over himself.
To Ranboo’s horror he plopped down on the edge of the bed, making it so Techno couldn’t move without shedding the covers.

“Ranboo? You good man?” Techno was scared he wasn't sure if this was Ranboo or some other mutated enderman hybrid.
To his horror Ranboo lifted a hand and started drawing back the sheets. To his surprise though, Ranboo just climbed under the covers with him.
“Bruh.” But Techno couldn’t find it in him to actually be mad at Ranboo.

Techno loved telling stories about the stars he had learned from his birth pod, and Phil loved making up stories to antagonize him. Techno’s finned ears and sail would flare in mild annoyance every time Phil spun up some nonsense myth, even if his face and tone remained neutral. This night, however, a storm had been brewing, and Techno and Phil wanted to watch for the first lightning strike before diving deep to sleep out the weather.
Through the wind and waves, they hadn’t heard an approaching fishing boat struggling to reel their nets back in. Wind whipped the waves up into a frenzy, and by an unfortunate stroke of bad luck, Techno had gotten caught. He was hoisted out of the water before he even realized what was happening, Phil screaming his name and reaching out desperately. Techno tried clawing at the net, but to no avail.

“Techno.” Techno looked up and was met with a smile that was as warning as it was gentle, touching every one of their features. “Get out of your head.”
Sighing, Techno leaned into their hand, laying his own on top of it. “Sorry,” he said. “It’s—hard.”
“I know,” Ranboo said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “And I’m proud of you.”
