In a world where the apocalypse never came, Troy met Nick, a homeless drug addict, on the street right after his first day of school, after a long time away. There was something about Nick that made Troy unable to look away. Could this fateful encounter actually be the way out of hell for these two lost souls? Or is it just the beginning of something even worse?----
Nick wasn’t sure what to think of the man he’d met the previous night.
At first, he thought it was funny how awkward he was. He was just messing around and never imagined the guy would actually take the joint.
But after Troy came alive, Nick was somehow fascinated by him. There was something about him that drew Nick in—he was a humorous, charismatic, and overly good-looking asshole. Nick wanted more of him—he needed more of him. Being with him felt almost like the heroin flowing through his veins.
But then, when he beat up those wannabe gangsters, he scared Nick.
It was probably supposed to scare Nick off, but he still couldn’t get the boy out of his head.

Summary
After the passing of Jeremiah Otto, Jake returns home from the city to be with his brother Troy. After suffering at the hands of Big Otto for years, Troy seems incapable of adjusting to a life outside of the ranch, so Jake starts making changes to the ranch to bring people in to get Troy used to interacting with different people.
Nick’s family has reached the end of their patience for him. The cycle of addiction, rehab and relapse has worn them down to nothing, so after hearing about a program for young adults at a ranch a few hours away, they agree that’s what’s best for him.

While the siblings are fighting for their lives, of all people, it is their mother's new boyfriend who is investigating the case. On top of family drama and teenage problems, the two now have to deal with a crazy killer wearing a silly ghost mask.
