Summary

He hadn't factored in getting knocked on his ass by a crazy dog, though.

Summary
“Build your base from the ground up,” Madara murmurs. Hashirama wrests his focus back. “Find your root.”
Hashirama lets the ground below his feet deepen. Now that he’s looking, he can sense patterns. Soft pockets of decaying matter yield under his awareness. Clumps of clay resist less than ancient granite shelves. Cold moisture threads and winds and pools in pockets.
Against his ear, Madara pulls in a slow breath. Hashirama’s skin lifts in goosebumps.
“Grow.”
In which a curious boy offers company to a grieving god, intertwining both their lives by the act.

“I don’t have a phone,” Madara says, infuriatingly calm.
“A computer, perhaps?”
“I don’t have electricity.”
“You don't have electricity,” Hashirama repeats dumbly.
“No.” Madara’s definitely smirking now, a sharp tilt of the lips that looks like it’s going to transform into a full-blown grin. “Don't need it. Your tea is getting cold.”
Hashirama Senju, a partner in the Senju Group, knows how to close land acquisition deals -- from the sleek, shiny safety of his urban office. But when a high-stakes industrial development project hinges on acquiring a solitary plot of land deep within a forest nobody can quite seem to reach, Hashirama is forced to trek out and secure the signature himself.

Summary
"Guys like us." Batman repeats the phrase as if it's the first time he's heard it, and Clark swears that he almost quirks a smile. Then the moment passes, and he closes off again. "Thanks, but I work alone."
Clark holds up his hands and rises back into the air. "Fair enough. If you ever change your mind, you know where to find me."
That should be the end of it, and it's fully what Clark intends. But some less-than-stellar impulse (he does occasionally have those, contrary to popular consensus) prompts him to take a brief peek through Batman's mask, if only for simple curiosity's sake.
He nearly drops out of the sky.

Within a day of their first meeting, Batman and Superman discover each other's greatest secrets. It makes for a pretty effective ice-breaker.
