It was my dad who suggested that, given the context of this week’s draft and the announcement of my Hall of Fame induction, I should talk about the future—my legacy. My legacy, or the parts of my career that will last—that I want to last. So, starting simultaneously in the middle and at the beginning: when Scott Hunter came out, I sent him an email.

Summary
Shane Hollander (!!!!!!) frowns. "You're Oliver Holmberg," he says, and politely doesn't glare at him like he's scum on the bottom of his shoe when Oliver gasps at the sound of his full name (which, his full name (!!!), has never sounded so fucking good, holy shit, Young's gonna shit himself when he tells him about this later) coming out of his mouth. "Are you looking for Ilya?"
"Ilya?" Oliver repeats, dazed beyond belief. He sort of wants to ask if the world's swimming for everyone, or just him. "Who?"
Shane Hollander looks abruptly, immensely pleased. Oliver has no idea what he's said to make him look like that, but he'll do anything for it to happen again.
OR: In a world where there is no outing of Hollanov, Oliver Holmberg stumbles over the big secret twenty-four hours before it's set to be revealed.

Summary
It was no secret that Shane Hollander loved one thing and one thing only, which was hockey. He spent his free time reading hockey books and watching game tape. He had an entire synthetic rink built at his cottage. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of every hockey stat from the modern era. It was so obvious - the reason he hadn’t fallen in love yet was because he needed to be with another hockey player, someone who cared about the game just as much as he did. Or, at least, almost as much as he did. Hayden didn’t know if there was anyone in the universe that loved it as much as Shane.
And, thankfully, there were twenty-three professional women hockey players in their city!! Sure, that didn’t sound like a lot, especially when you factored in how many of them were probably single, but it was better than nothing! Now he just had to figure out how to get Shane to spend some quality time with the Victoire players. How hard could that possibly be?
OR
Hayden tries to set Shane up with PWHL players. Instead of a girlfriend, Shane finds community and the support he needs to go after the man of his dreams.

Shane’s ex-girlfriends keep coming out as queer. He’s trying to be supportive, he really is, okay? Listen, he’s an ally! But it’s sort of becoming a problem. For pretty obvious reasons, because people are definitely starting to notice—Ilya most of all.
(AKA, I give Shane the most absurd queer community and convoluted coming-of-age journey of all time and it still somehow gradually makes things better in the long run.)
