    Waking up from a 600-year long cursed sleep—and finding his manor and town completely destroyed—inspires a lot of feelings in Scott. Anger. Vengefulness. Annoyance. Hatred. Insatiable hunger for human flesh and blood.

    But more than anything, he is reallyyyyyy tired.

    Too tired to bother with an elaborate song and dance with the human intruders in Oakhurst.

    “I — no! I am definitely, absolutely not on your side!” Tommy shouted. “I — I don’t — I don’t even know why I’m here! It was an accident! Just — go away!”

    “Are you, what, actually not a part of this?” not-Dream asked, tiling his head and studying Tommy’s face, his expression. “Shoot. Guess not. Um. Okay, then.” He raised a hand, and took off his mask, revealing his face in a smooth motion that made Tommy’s heart jolt. “Nice to meet you, mysterious visitor. I’m Dream. Welcome to the Hunt.”

    Or, after an accidental portal disaster, Tommy ends up on a Server far from the Dream SMP, and meets three hunters whose only objective seems to be killing Dream, and a much different version of Dream, whose only objective seems to be staying alive. (And keeping Tommy alive too, which made absolutely no sense at all.)

    This is a story about the curtain that separates us ; this is a story on how we'll never know each other.

    This, specifically, is a story on grief. Who do people mourn when they bury you? If reality never matches one's perception of it, does that mean the corpse in the coffin is yours? If you are powerless over the eyes that watch you, does that mean you'll never know what they see? What do you do then? If you're not certain they know you, the person you want to show, does that mean it's unsure you'll ever be loved? And-

    Breathe, breathe.

    (Putting cTommy through the wringer, again. But this time it's a little bit philosophical. I promise there's a cool and pretty plot though, and I promise it's nice. I'm just bad at summaries.)

    “It’s been five days since you died,” Dream stated.

    The words were so matter of fact and emotionless that Tommy felt his softly burning anger rage inside of him. “It’s been over two fucking months for me, bitch,” he spat out, his voice louder than he had let it be for days, the sound bouncing off the oil-dark walls and striking back at his ears.

    “Three days since I revived you,” Dream continued, ignoring Tommy’s interruption for once. “And during those five days, we have not had a single visitor.”

    Or: No one came to ask Dream to revive Tommy, and still trapped in prison, Dream won’t let Tommy forget it. All he can do is ask his friends for their explanations and hope for the best.

    And his world didn’t really crash around him, not really. It was not something earth shattering, and it was not something that he’d remember for the rest of his life, unlike many future events. But it did set a precedent for the rest of their relationship.

    Tubbo, in all his faults and fumbles, would always be better than him.
