Next generation, sort of. Instead of taking place directly after the epilogue, this takes place twenty-five years later. Includes my head-canon OCs, Nicholas and Merritt Potter, because I wanted to write a story about Dudley's kids, couldn't see him having kids quite that soon, and wanted a Potter cousin to hang out with them. Nicholas and Merritt happened to be a package deal.

Summary
When thirteen-year-old Grayson Dixon’s momma dies, he’s determined to figure out if the Ryland Grace mentioned in her diaries is really his dad. Convincing his uncle to enroll him in Grover Cleveland Middle School is easy. However, mustering up the courage to tell Mr. Grace that he’s probably his son is the hardest thing Grayson’s ever had to do.
After missing his chance to tell Mr. Grace the truth, Grayson dedicates his life to following in his father’s footsteps. When someone leaks his NASA internship badge photo, his uncanny resemblance to his father becomes international news. And Grayson has to deal with the world knowing that he’s the son of a hero who is destined to die.

When Ryland Grace’s declining health forces him back home to Earth, he doesn’t expect to have any family left to introduce Rocky to. When he learns that one of his former students is actually his son, he realizes that life on Earth might not be that lonely after all.

Summary
It had been a long and difficult 27 years since the Hail Mary had launched. Not as terrible as it could have been, but not easy. Humanity had survived and adapted, as it always did. There had been terrible wars. There had been incredible acts of kindness. There had been massive scientific breakthroughs. And now, there were two distant blips of Petrova-light, picked up by the Deep Space Network, hurtling home. Two probes, braking hard as they hurtled toward Earth holding the secrets to its salvation. They were late, or at least, not very early, but they were here.
Grace may have made his peace with dying to save Rocky, but Rocky insists they return to Earth.
