Summary
When thirteen-year-old Grayson Dixon’s momma dies, he’s determined to figure out if the Ryland Grace mentioned in her diaries is really his dad. Convincing his uncle to enroll him in Grover Cleveland Middle School is easy. It had been a long and difficult 27 years since the Hail Mary had launched. Not as terrible as it could have been, but not easy. Humanity had survived and adapted, as it always did. There had been terrible wars. There had been incredible acts of kindness. There had been massive scientific breakthroughs. And now, there were two distant blips of Petrova-light, picked up by the Deep Space Network, hurtling home. Two probes, braking hard as they hurtled toward Earth holding the secrets to its salvation. They were late, or at least, not very early, but they were here.
Grace may have made his peace with dying to save Rocky, but Rocky insists they return to Earth.

Summary
Grace didn't leave anybody behind on Earth, not even a dog, but Rocky, Rocky had a whole family waiting back home on Erid.
Adrian has been holding the family together, hoping against hope as the years passed by in a blur; long past the time that others gave up expecting the ship and its crew to return with hope and a cure. Finally, a message comes for them from the Great Thurm.
The ship they sent out isn't returning, something else, something alien is bearing down on their planet. Something that speaks with a voice that no one can identify, but that claims to be Adrian's long-lost mate.
What does this alien ship hold for Adrian and the family cluster left behind? Hope, or despair? Or perhaps, gut wrenchingly more complex than either...Hark, hear the hero,

Summary
On their way back to Erid, Rocky and Grace discover a mysterious box. Upon opening it, the two discover some strange changes. Well, perhaps way more than strange.
Rocky finds a new marking on his arm similar to Grace's scar, and Grace finds markings similar to Rocky's on his arms and legs.
Rocky begins to dream and can easily wake from sleep, and Grace can stay up for much longer than a normal human should.
Grace starts seeing sound when it's too dark to properly see, and Rocky starts seeing pops of colour in his sound vision.
Neither can understand what's happening to them and how they're seemingly linked together, but they know there's nothing in the world that could tear them apart.
(TLDR: This fic will include almost everyone's favourite things! Rocky learns about how Grace got on the Hail Mary (Including Rocky witnessing the memory of Grace being sent on the Hail Mary)! Grace can survive in Rocky's atmosphere! Grace will live as long as Rocky! Rocky and Adrian reuinite and Adrian meets Grace! Summary
Three years after the probes carrying Taumoeba and Dr. Ryland Grace's final message arrive on Earth, humanity launches an interstellar spaceship with a brand new mission. Thirty-six crew members (including two graduates of a certain San Franciscan junior high school) travel to the star 40-Eridani to make friendly contact with the Eridians and bring them the alien life form from Tau Ceti-E that can save their star if Dr. Grace's sacrifice failed.
Grace, now fifty-seven years old, is just trying to balance his life as a teacher while no longer being the only human on the planet anymore. It's a big adjustment, but Rocky and the Terra's Grace crew are going to make sure he's well taken care of.

The humans threw Grace away. Grace, who worked so hard to save them, who came back for Rocky when he realized the taomoeba would eat through Rocky's ship. Grace, who gave up his chance to go home to save Erid too.
And then Rocky finds out exactly how Grace ended up in space.
They're not giving him back now. Grace will always have a place on Erid where he's beloved and cherished the way he should be, even if it takes Grace a while to believe he's worth that. Rocky may or may not have plans to fix up the Hail Mary for the trip back anyways- there were a few things they wanted to say directly to Stratt's face.

It gets worse when they find out the circumstances of him ending up on the Hail Mary.
When his declining health necessitates a trip back to Earth, he is faced with a planet that loves him so fiercely and wonderfully that it finally starts to break through his crippling lack of self worth and bloom into something incredible.
And Earth? Earth has to deal with an Erid that is polite, protective, and most of all, pissed.

Sometimes, when two Eridians have a strong connection, they swap bodies. This is typically taken as a sign that they are supposed to mate. Rocky has swapped bodies with Adrian many times, but he never thought he’d swap with an alien.
Swapping will improve communication dramatically, giving them more access to each other’s languages, so this development is really good for the mission.
