Look, Spider could handle the Metakayina. He could handle the whispers of curses, the looks of fear in their eyes at just the sight of him. The way the literal warriors would grip their spears whenever he cracked his neck or knuckles. He could handle the way the kids would cover their hair with sand and chase each other around, pretending to be the monster they were so sure he was. He could handle it, even though it hurt. It really, really hurt.

“Let me explain it for you: you didn’t capture our palismen. Meaning Waffles and Ratador have totally alerted everyone by now. You kidnapped Darius Deamonne’s boyfriend and kid. And when Willow gets hold of you?” He shook his head, letting out a low whistle. “Ooh boy.”
“What? The Park girl?” Kikimora scoffed, trying to dodge the mention of Darius, which finally had her flinching. “What will she do?”
“Hm, yes, whatever will one of the most powerful witches of her age do?” Alador scoffed.
“Not to mention she’s super protective,” Hunter said. “It’s very cute, honestly.”
“You two are very sweet together,” Alador said.
“Aw, thanks!” He turned back to Kikimora with a smirk. “See, I think Willow’s great. Absolutely amazing, the best person I know. And, get this: she loves me. So, I’ll enjoy what she does when she gets here. But you?” He tutted, letting out a low mock-sympathetic hiss. “Yyyyeeeaaahhhh, no. You’re not gonna like what happens next.”

Kikimora's poor attempt at kidnapping Hunter and Alador quickly goes south for her. Rule number one: don't ever mess with Willow's boyfriend.

Summary
Camila always dreamed of having a big family. She came from one, Manny came from one; they were in agreement that they wanted a whole bunch of kids.
Things didn’t work out that way. Manny got sick and that became the focus of Camila’s life. She tried to shield Luz as best she could, but Luz was growing up, growing wiser every day; she could see the dawning horror in her daughter’s eyes, the knowledge that Manny wasn’t getting better.
Manny died holding her hand and their dreams of a huge, loud family died with him.
Fate had other plans.
(Vee was hers in a heartbeat. Camila had a soft spot for Hunter, but she didn’t begin to think of him as hers until the end of the kids’ second month with her.)
