Hayden didn't seem to notice much of anything these days. He thought it was the same for Ilya; thought they were the same, too caught up in their grief to see the things around them. No: Ilya still watched everything around him, but he was in some kind of space outside of everything else. Liminal, Shane might call it. Might have called it.
Shane and Jackie are dead. Ilya moves in with the Pikes.

“What about your wife?” Ilya wondered, his question soft to make sure he didn’t upset him again. “Can she not watch kids while you visit your parents?”Hayden, for a moment, furrowed his brows. He never heard that gentle of a tone from Rozanov before. Ever. He thought about snapping again, but frankly, felt a bit too tired for it. Instead, he just shook his head.
“She’s not even in the country,” he admitted. “And I can’t bother her after ruining her vacation last year.”
Ilya’s lips twitched, something akin to respect showing for a moment. “Alright, fine,” he muttered, sighing. “I take them.”
He blinked, scoffing. “What?” he responded in confusion.
“The kids, I take your kids,” Ilya clarified, gesturing between them. “How long will you be gone, a week? Two?” He leaned over, sorting through the other cart without permission to look at the snacks in comparison to what he already had at his house.

Summary
This was a relatively new arrangement, still strange, sometimes uncomfortable, and Hayden was still learning the difference between Rozanov’s insults being playful or just mean. Some days it is easier, when Ilya cushions them with a softer hand, smoothing down the hair that he just tugged, other days, like today, it feels harsh and horrible and vindictive, as Hayden falls clumsily back onto the covers and Ilya swoops in where Hayden had been kissing a line down Shane’s chest. It left him feeling a little hollow, rotten, an aching pit in his stomach opening wide.

Dabi had been in love with Hawks since they were kids. He knew it was dangerous to keep the hero around, but his inner Prime Alpha just wouldn't let him go. He hadn’t even known Hawks was an Omega, let alone a bonded one, so when he killed a corrupt Commission Alpha, and Hawks started to die, too, Dabi panicked and bonded the Omega in hopes that overwriting the bond would save his life.
In the aftermath, they're stuck navigating a haphazard bond built on a relationship that has never been anything but turbulent as long as they've known each other. It's rocky, but it's a worthwhile feat, and they're determined to make it work.

“Being drunk doesn’t count.” He meant to say it firmly but it comes out as a squeak. Judging by the raised brow on Cliff’s face he sees right through it. Marlow takes a step forward and something in the air changes. Hayden should take one back but he is frozen in place. Prey caught in its predators gaze.
“So,” Cliff says softly, closing the distance even further. The boys are practically chest to chest, chin to chest if you count for their height difference. “If I kiss you right now, it won’t count?” His hands are ghosting over Hayden’s hips and Hayden gulps. Alarm bells are ringing in his head, begging him to stop this, to move away. And it must be the mixture of the several tequila shots and pure shock that possesses him to say, "Of course not."
