Summary
Whatever it was that told him he would see another day, it had leaked from his body, dissolved in the big green cloud that had engulfed Blüd, and washed away in years of blood spilling through his fingers.
Ahead, there was another half-collapsed building.
Heavy, unfeeling, and aching legs dragged him there. The apparition of Jason followed dutifully.
Together, they kept going, searching for more ghosts, until Dick’s body would give out, and he could follow Jason in turn.OR
Deathstroke dropped Chemo on Blüdhaven and Nightwing wanders into the nuclear zone to help with no care for his own life. -

Summary
“Rao, Bruce, I’m so sorry,” Clark said.
Bruce knit his eyebrows together in confusion. “What happened on the mission?”
Now it was Clark who looked confused. “The mission?”
Bruce pulled up his tablet and began logging into the database. “You just came back from the JLA mission to Braal, no? Hal filed the report already.” Bruce tapped on the screen to open the report and scanned his eyes over it. “Looks like it went alright.”
A horrified look dawned on his friend’s face. “You don’t know.”
“Know what,” Bruce said, now starting to feel annoyed at clearly being out of the loop of whatever Clark was talking about.
“Bruce, I don’t hear his heart.”
Four months ago, Agent 37 returned from Spyral, and faced his family’s anger at the betrayal.
One month ago, John Doe was shot and killed in a mugging.
Three days ago, Superman came to offer his condolences after returning from an off-world mission.
Now, Dick Grayson is lowered into the ground once again.
OR: Dick dies alone and his family grieves.

“DON’T—!” The word tears from Tim’s throat, too late.
Wild magic slams into Nightwing dead-on, erupting in green light that swallows him whole.
When the light sputters and dies, it reveals his crumpled form. For a breath, the warehouse goes dead quiet.
The casters stare, eyes wide, as if they can’t believe they’d actually landed a hit.

Summary
“Jason’s alive,” Bruce says, like Dick hasn’t just lost his own life.
Alive, he says, like somehow Dick’s loss has driven Bruce into mania instead.
Like the words Dick would have given anything to hear three years ago now prove comparable to the 100,000 lives blinked out and the thousands more choking down their last toxic breaths.
“Come home.”

Sometimes, grief is mourning someone who's come back to life, mourning the space they take up now, and the life reconstructed in their absence that you’re now forced to leave behind.
And sometimes, it is mourning half a city at the same time.
