C uni job as a jr researcher N looking for this PGCE placement N gets the UCL placement C gets offered a job in Greece at he last min neither talk to each other and end up ending their relationship as Greece is too far for long distance DEVISTATIoN Chp 8 C is getting the run down of how life will be over the next year N in the other hand is trying to find a flat in Londin before he starts his pcge N ends up moving in with david who has as pae room after GF emma moved out N goes to a farewell party for D whos moving to AZ for zoology Tao organized the far away friends to send eclectronic greeting and guess whos voice he hears Its been 6 mths and N is still having a really hard time coning to grips with the loss C starts sessions with Geoff C tells the Greek family what happens N has blocked C in socials C has no idea what’s happening with him C is wondering did he really do the right thing 8mths and NC are fading into a memory The hurt is quiet and people just continue living their lives. Charlie watches as the broad figure of his favourite customer slips through the door and disappears into the darkness of the bleak winter evening. He’s eternally grateful for the fact that the shop has pretty much emptied out now, and Elliot is occupied with washing up in the back room, giving him a moment alone to sigh dreamily to himself as he stares after him and lets the residual fluttering in his stomach settle back down to normal.

C cafe manager at a neighbourhood cafe N semi pro Cambridge uni Rugby club He got hurt and has been off and spends hours in the cafe reading and drinking lattes. N is in the cafe when a customer complains that there is a dog in the dog friendly cafe and chews out the new trainee C tries to settle the customer and N is in the background waiting to help He comes back that night to check on C Keeps C company while he finshies and locks up Notices the burn on C arm and walks home with him to help cover the burn

“Shit, shit, shit,” the man next to Charlie chanted. The metal of the cabin creaked ominously. Not a good sign. Charlie was out of comforting words.
He reached out his hand, palm up, in the space between them. An offering if not a reassurance.

The plane back home to England crashed on a desert island N helps C get to shore They spend 2 wks surviving until they see smoke in the other side of the island and trek through the jungle to find the rest of the survivors most time surviving until the middle of the night when the rescue helicopters come taken to hospital N and C are separated C under weight needs a feeding tube and then N shows up at the door of his rm N stays with c while the nurse inserts the feeding tube and C just weeks into N clothing
