Summary
Echidna_Guardian fell from a high place.
The three players were silent for a second, until Silver started cackling. The rest of them joined in, laughing to the point where their abs were hurting. Sonic was wiping tears from his eyes when he heard a knock at the door.
“Just– just, haha – gimme a second guys, I think Tails is home,” Sonic said between giggles, standing up and making his way towards the front door.
“Hey, lil bud–” Sonic started saying as he opened the door, only to find it was in fact not his little brother, but Shadow the Hedgehog.
Sonic stood there stunned for a second, rubbing his eyes quickly to double check his vision, and get rid of the newfound tears in his eyes.
“Sh–Shadow?” Sonic said quietly, looking the hybrid up and down.
Or, Shadow goes missing for a month, and shows up at Sonic's house in the middle of the night. They argue.

Summary
Shadow got out of his car, shutting the door and pressing the lock button a few times to make sure it’s locked. He had his black and red hair tied up in a messy ponytail and was wearing a dark green work shirt with the name of the restaurant on his chest.
He opened the glass door of the takeout shop, walking past the counter and through the wooden sliding door to the kitchen. As he stepped inside, he read the whiteboard situated on the side of the drinks fridge that displayed the jobs of each worker for the evening.
Under his name said Front.

Summary
“Can you remind me where we’re going?” Shadow deadpanned, knowing full well that Rouge hadn’t told him their destination anyways.
“Uh uh uh!” Rouge sing-songed, waving a finger, “It’s a surprise!”
“I don’t know why I put up with you,” Shadow mumbled in jest.
“Oh, you know you love me, hon,” Rouge teased, glancing over at her companion as he sighed.
“The things I do for you,” Shadow drawled sarcastically, shaking his head slowly.
“Oh come on! You owed me this one,” Rouge exclaimed, reminding Shadow of the deal they had made the week before after Rouge had oh-so-kindly taken Shadow’s grocery turn.
“Honestly, I think it should be the things I do for you,” Rouge stated, gesturing with her occupied hands.
“You said that you’d do the shopping with the promise of more shopping,” Shadow said dryly, “you did this of your own accord.”
“Oh, ha ha.”
Or, AU where Shadow roller blades and Sonic skateboards. They just keep meeting.

Summary
A year after defeating Black Doom, Shadow the Hedgehog had grown tired of the endless battles and unwanted attention. Longing for solitude, he sought to vanish from the public eye, retreating into obscurity where he felt he truly belonged. Shadow saw his purpose as the Ultimate Lifeform to be one of protection, emerging only when the world was in genuine danger. His promise to Maria and his own desire for peace fueled this decision, driving him to distance himself from the chaos.
However, Sonic the Hedgehog felt differently. He had scoured the world in search of his former rival, determined to reconnect with the enigmatic hedgehog. And after everything that had transpired during Shadow's absence, Sonic realized that Shadow might be the only one who could truly understand what he was going through. In the wake of recent events, the blue blur found himself in need of someone he could be candid with—someone who, like him, carried a certain weight forced upon their shoulders.

“Can you turn the light on? I can’t see anything.” Sonic asked, squinting in the already illuminated space.
Shadow side eyed the blue hedgehog with growing anxiety. “…The lights are on, hedgehog."
An immense sense of wrongness hit both of them at the same time. Shadow watched helplessly as the other hedgehog tried opening and closing his eyes a few times, as if it was magically going to cure what was wrong with him.
“Shadow.” His voice wavered with uncertainty, hands trembling slightly. “I… I can’t see.”
OR:
5 times Shadow does something he wouldn’t normally do for a now blind Sonic The Hedgehog, and one time Sonic returns the favor.

Summary
Shadow is a supervillain. He is Ultimate, one of the worst in the city. He deserves the death penalty before he deserves fondness and affection, but he gets exactly that when he indulges the vigilante Phantom, also known as Sonic.
He also doesn't deserve a family, but after one of the heroes kills Sonic, Shadow finds it impossible to abandon Tails, Sonic's remaining family.
And he definitely doesn't deserve a second chance to make things right, but the universe seems quite insistent on giving him what he doesn't deserve.
