    It had been a week since the Tsunami, and Buck kept telling himself he was fine. No broken bones, no stitches. Just a few bruises, minor cuts with lots of blood due to his blood thinners, and some muscle aches. Normal stuff. He'd even gone back to light duty, checked in with Bobby, helped sort through the mountain of post-disaster paperwork and station cleanup. Physically, everything looked good. Clean scans. Vitals within range. Nothing that set off alarms.

    But the headaches had started creeping in two days ago. At first, it was just a dull presence behind his eyes, the kind of ache that came from too much noise and not enough sleep. He chalked it up to stress. The city was still reeling. The station had been stretched thin. So had he, maybe. But it was fine. He took a couple Advil, drank more water, forced himself to smile, and powered through. He could handle pain. He'd handled worse.
