It's not jealousy. Adrian is adamant about that. They are actually insisting that it’s not any emotion at all. Not even dislike. They are simply completely uninterested in anything that concerns “the human”.
Rocky believes them. Adrian has always been the level-headed one out of the two of them. They are too logical to be jealous. They acknowledge that Grace and Rocky have a special bond after everything they went through together and also understand that none of that will ever pose a threat to their relationship.
Neither are they heartless or ungrateful. They know that Grace is the only reason that Rocky is back at all, the only reason their star has stopped dying. Adrian has told Rocky again and again that they are grateful and happy and wish the alien no ill will. They even helped with the construction of the biodome.
And yet they have no desire to get to know Grace.

Grace grabs his glasses and puts them on so he can make sure that the person next to him is Simon. He needs to know that Simon isn't a figment of his imagination.
His boyfriend's face comes into focus. Simon is more awake each time he blinks, eyes focusing on Grace. Wrinkles of concern settle between his eyebrows and on the top of his nose.
“Ry?”
Grace makes out Simon's torso with his hands. Smooth skin. Hair. The dip of his navel. Scar tissue. Nipples. The peaks of a few too many ribs. Simon is real. He's here. Grace didn't just invent him out of loneliness. Grace remembers him. Remembers his body and how it feels.
“Baby,” Simon says.
“Sorry. Sorry. I—nightmare.”

Considering everything that had happened recently, Grace was pretty confident that there was little that could genuinely surprise him anymore.
In what had felt like a whirlwind, he’d been hand-selected to be the first human to study alien life, even if at that point it was because he had been seen and expendable. His entire life was uprooted shortly after for becoming a little too important in studying said alien life form. Then, waking up several years later and several light-years away from Earth with two corpses who were supposed to be his crewmates. Then, to top it all off, he’d encountered Rocky, a whole new type of intelligent life form who was here at Tau Ceti with the same goal as him. To save their dying stars.
Yet all that confidence went out to airlock as he stared up at the blinking console, the ship’s monotone alert ringing out. “Radio Transmission in Progress, Accept Transmission? Y/N”
