Summary
Sherry is ready to do this alone, she really is. She's managed through so much on her own, she can manage now, but the people who love her remind her she doesn't have to. She has her family back and they're not going anywhere this time.
Jake is running, slowly realizing he's running to something, not from something. For the first time, he has somebody dragging him by the ear out of suicide missions, making sure he stays alive whether he likes it or not because she made a promise to someone whose opinion she values far more than Jake's.
Eventually, all that running leads them both back home.

Leon nearly fell over in his haste to shove his pants down around his knees. Claire giggled at his enthusiasm, but it quickly melted into a moan as Ada’s hand found its way back between her legs.
“I’m not done with you yet,” Ada said into her ear, just loud enough for Leon to hear.
"Oh God," Claire breathed.

Summary
When Leon was a kid, his mother used to take him to a small campsite near a local lake. It’s only a vague memory now, more of a feeling of familiarity than anything else, and his mother stopped taking him when he was still young. And that was that.
So, in a way, this is also Leon’s first real vacation, beach and all.
Sherry’s never even been to the beach before. He’s more than willing to change that.

“I’ve never failed a single job,” she ignored him, her tone growing restless. “Not even once. And yet… I can’t seem to finish this one. Why?”
“Because you’re scared,” he said it plainly, just the way it was. “You’re too scared to admit what we both know very well.”
Ada lifted her chin, defiant.
“And what’s that?”
And since Leon considered himself to be quite the suicidal bastard, he offered himself for the slaughter.
“That you’re in love with me.”
It was so unlike her, the way Ada rose from the chair in an instant, almost kicking the bottle in the process. She walked towards him in a hurry, fire and anger unleashing in her gaze, almost stumbling with her heels. Leon felt the impulse to make fun of her, of her composed demeanor slowly breaking at the seams, of the way she so expertly carried herself with excessive overconfidence until the word love was brought up, as if loving her was the worst thing he could ever do to her.
Or: Leon and Ada through the years. From 1998 to 2026, until their wedding ring.
