“Tell me, Wei Wuxian, what went wrong?”
Wei Wuxian’s soul was fraying at the edges; he was blinking in and out of existence. Even after freeing him from the resentful spirit that surrounded him after the disaster of Nightless City, his soul wouldn’t be able to hold on for much longer. The man who was speaking to Wei Wuxian knew that. He tried his best, but even he couldn’t patch up a soul that was not willing to patch itself.
The silver eyes looked up at him; the tears of his soul had dried, and now only red remained in the whites of his eyes. “Who are you?” Wei Wuxian’s voice sounded as hopeless as he looked. He only asked the question for the sake of it.
“A well-wisher,” he said.

Summary
